Caremark specialty

Has anyone used them for injectibles? They are the only pharmacy I can use with my insurance and the nurse said they are difficult to deal with so I'm a bit nervous as I need my gonal by Sat. Everything was ordered this morning.

There is caremark which is regular meds, I've never had an issue with them. This is caremark specialty which handles things like injectibles, I have to follow up by Wed if I don't hear from them but will follow up tomorrow.

I would say it should be fine. I used Walgreens and they were great and Caremark is the same.

I used them and had no problems. Everything was shipped in a timely manner and I had no issues. I had to use them too because of insurance.

Re: Caremark specialty

Yes, I had to deal with them. I had to repeatedly call and make sure they received the prescriptions faxed from RMA. Make sure you keep on top of them. If the dr tells you they sent the order, call the next day to make sure it was received.

they prescribed me GONAL F pen, but Follistim was the preferred drug, so I had to go through like 3 rounds of getting a prescription faxed to them in order to get that straightened out.

Once I got it confirmed, they will ship everything to you for right before you need it. (as some meds only have a short shelf life ..ex. if you are using lupron microdose like I did..its good for 14 days once they compound it).

they are expensive. Follistim 900 IU was like $1200 a box or something like that. if you go to freedom fertility online you can get it for way less, but thats a cash price. I dont think they take insurance. My copays werent alot though, but I blew through 15K in IVF med benefits in one cycle b/c of the cost of the Follistim and menopur. (I think menopur was like $180 a Vial and I needed two vials a day for 10 days)

As long as I go through them my follistim and trigger is only $180. I called and verified the other day when I know I was starting this cycle. This is the only month that they will cover as my lifetime max is $2k through my insurance. I've used both follistim and gonal so I'm ok with both.

Re: Caremark specialty

I wish I had a better experience but alas and alack I did not. I think 50% of it was my RE's office, and 50% was Caremark/My insurance co In the end, it ended up being cheaper for me to actually pay out of pocket (in what crazy world does this happen??) from a different pharmacy than go through Caremark. It does seem like others here have had good experiences and I hope you're one of them too!

I just called and advised that Megan is my specialty contact. She is logging in and verifying my insurance benefits so I should hear back in 3 hours. I'm following up tomorrow am and I'm hoping this goes smoothly and the estimated cost is true. My insurance changes to dh's on the 10th so if I can max out my benefits for this cycle I won't have to pay much out of pocket. Next cycle under dh's insurance will be rediculously expensive so I'm trying to milk my insurance for all its worth.

So far bad experience and they aren't showing a request for the gonal in their system so Megan and I will be called the RE tomorrow and the insurance company. Shoot me now.

Re: Caremark specialty

I use them and it's been mostly fine. They've always delivered on schedule.

I did have an issue once where they didn't have a medication that was ordered and didn't bother to notify me. I spent a whole lot of time on hold after my package was delivered only to find out they didn't stock this one particular med, which was annoying.

did the RE office mess up, they did for me.

Also, have them order the max amount of meds especially if you wont have coverage after. In fact, they should order more than what they think you will need. JMO

I'll have coverage just under dh's plan not mine. I don't have prescription coverage for fertility drugs I only have medical which includes meds so it's just my insurance. They were going to order more but I can't afford it.
