Toe curling or something more???

I am reaching out because I'm starting to really worry. Four days after a fever virus, my almost two year old started curling her toes on her left foot all the way under and walking like that. They are completely curled under and not toe walking (I've googled to see difference lol) Lasted about a half hour and since it was after hours, my pediatrician suggested, just to be sure, to take her to PM pediatrics even though she thought it was just toxic synovitis. Of course by the time we got there, she wasn't doing it. I showed the video I took to the pediatrician there, but she couldn't determine for sure what it was.

Fast forward two weeks to her well visit and she is still doing it on and off. It can happen 3 times in one day or not happen for a day or two then happen again. She has done it now on the right foot too. My pediatrician said it probably isn't toxic synovitis because of the length of time since the virus. He referred me to an orthopedist and I have to call tomorrow to make an appointment. In the meantime, I have googled too much and I am thinking all horrible things. Has anyone's kid ever done anything like this? She is also due for her two year old blood work which I will take her to this week.

TIA!

My 2 year old DS was doing that and we went to a pediatric ortho. He was diagnosed with transient synovitis. DS had a bunch of cold throughout the fall which ended in an ear infection. A couple of weeks after that he woke up one day and wouldn't fully bear weight through one leg. It took about 10 days for him to fully get back to normal. The ortho will rule out a toddler fracture and maybe juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

Thanks for sharing. I have an appointment with Dr. Lazar next week. Mind if I ask who you used?

We see Dr John Paul DiMauro at Nslij. His office is in new Hyde park. My daughter has been seeing him since she's 2 weeks old. He is one of the best pediatric orthos. Highly recommend him !
