baby is here one month early
Popping in to share that I had a beautiful baby girl! Went to the hospital Sunday bc of a lack in movement. At first things looked great but she wasnt moving or having any heat rate accelerations. Next thing I knew I was having an emergency cs bc they didn't know what was wrong. It was a good call bc she had extremely low red blood count. She's 4 pounds and doing well now and her blood count has improved. I haven't gotten to hold her yet but hopefully tomorrow I'll get to and try to nurse her. I'm definitely still in shock and would have bet anything I'd be late since my first was born at 42 weeks. DD is excited but I don't think it will sink in until she meets the baby. Hopefully that won't be to long. If any btdt nicu mom's have tips or advice on pumping I'm all ears just fm me.

My DS was two months early. Start pumping ASAP. I was pumping every two to three hours.

Congrats!!!!! My DD came 6 weeks early and was a NICU baby for 39 days. Start pumping asap, and do so every three hours to build your supply. Get to know the NICU nurses and the rules of the unit. I always tried to be there during shift change to hear the updates. Most of all, be patient. It's so hard to see your baby in there, but just know it's what's best for her right now.
FM me if you have any questions or just want to vent. I know how emotional of a time it can be.

Get one of those hands free pumping bras and pump as often as pissible.The more yiu pump the more need you create and then make more.

Congratulations!!! I'm a NICU mom 2 times over. With my youngest DD she was originally due October 5th (I think) they then pushed my due date up a week but she came August 30th. She came home on day 9. Her weight was 5lbs at birth but she had trouble maintaining her body temp then developed a touch of jaundice. The hardest part is when I would ask the doctors or the NP when would
DD be discharged or moved up to regular nursery they would say tomorrow. Well that went on for 9 days .
I did BF so I was pumping and going down (delivered at LIJ so NICU was on the other side of the hospital) every feeding. I was also a csection mom so after a while the walking helped me heal faster.

CONGRATS!!! So glad everyone is doing better and I hope the NICU stay is short. LO was in the NICU only for 48 hours because I spiked a temp. I wanted to BF but got discouraged. Stay with it, it's the best thing for your baby. I don't know where you delivered but if it's LIJ in NHP the NICU is a long ways away from your room. I found that I would have to ask for transport about 30-45 minutes before I wanted to be down there because it took them that long to get to my room and then the trip was about 5 minutes.

Thank you all. Baby's doing well but will definitely be here for a bit. I'll probably get to stay until Friday. I finally got to hold her last night but that's it so far. We're in Stony brook and everyone has been so amazing. Last time I wasn't thrilled with a few things but it's been great this time around.
