Would you be annoyed? DH and Father's Day
My parents are out of town on Father's Day and we aren't seeing DH's father. DH is planning on spending the day with me and the kids, but wants to go to his friend's house around 7:00 pm to watch a basketball game. I am really annoyed and think it is ridiculous that he wants to see his friend on Father's Day instead of being with his family. My kids don't go to bed until the earliest 10, so it is not like they won't be up then. Am I wrong for being annoyed?

I'm in the middle. I'd be hurt that he didn't want to spend it with me and the kids but it's his day and he gets to choose how he wants to spend it. So I couldn't be annoyed about it even if I was feeling hurt.

I would not be annoyed if my husband wanted to watch a basketball with his friends after being with his family the whole day. I would be annoyed if he was not spending the rest of the day with us.

No. It's his day and I don't see anything wrong with that if he spent the day with his family and then wanted to see the game with his friend at night. Sounds like an ideal Father's Day to me.

Depends what we're doing for the rest of the day and if we have to cut anything short. I would prefer it to be a family day, but it's father's day, so it's really up to DH.

It wouldn't bother me.
I wanted a little time for myself on Mother's day. Went out shopping in the morning and got a mani/pedi, then went home and spent the day with my family.

I agree. I would actually encourage it for my DH since he never does anything fun for himself.

I wouldn't mind so much but my kids would lol. I have two girls that are just so into these things right now - birthdays, mothers day, fathers day. My 4 year old would probably be heart broken if daddy didnt read her her story and put her to bed on "daddy's day". She has already made him 2 gifts and is overall excited to make "his day" special for him. So that is the only reason why, for me, I wouldnt want him to go.

I would probably be annoyed also but it would be selfish of me to not let him go if he spent the whole day with us so I would encourage him to go(and keep my annoyance to myself).

Nope, its his day. It's DH first father's day. He is going golfing in the morning with my brother then spending the rest of the day with us. I told him to do what he wants, its his day!

It's 7. Kids are usually tired then, gotta get ready for Monday, I say let him go. I think by 7, the day is over anyway.

No, wouldn't bother me as long as you both have an equal relationship and he supports your time to go out with girl friends or do what you want to do.
I love spending my birthday with my family, but for Mother's Day DH got me a spa GC. I plan on going to the spa early for some pampering and mimosas with friends then spending the rest of the day grilling in the backyard with the family. DH and I also plan on going out the Saturday night just us to celebrate.

I get where you're coming from and can def see your side to it... I see mothers and Father's Day in a different light.... I think it's a day to honor the person with however they choose to spend the day... Like a reward for all their hard work thought the year... For Mother's Day, I go to AC with my mom and am away from Dh and dd. Dh and my dad are spending Father's Day together golfing and riding their motorcycles... I don't see anything wrong with just taking 1 day for yourself 
Eta: just retread your post.... No, I def wouldn't be upset if he had just spent the whole day with us.... Get those kids up early so they crash earlier than 10 for ya
