Mother's Day & Father's Day.....How do you celebrate them?

Do you and DH (or DW) spend the day with your parents and in laws together or do you maybe do breakfast w/ one set, and dinner w/ the other.

Past few years we've been celebrating it together, usually dinner and its the 6 of us, but this year Im kinda thinking we should give them their own time. I feel bad that they have to "share" in a way. I know they don't mind, but they're entitled to have their own time alone w/ us on "their" special day.

So.....I'm asking.....how do you guys split it up?

Not to be a downer here, but my Mom and Dad have passed and my MIL has passed too, FIL not in the picture, we spend the day together. Honor your parents while you have them .

Usually we would all go out together. Everyone is very close.

We usually celebrate it separately. Father's Day I spend with my FIL as my dad is usually away on vacation.

This year we are thinking of doing a BBQ at our house for Mother's day! It makes it easier to get everyone in one place rather then attempting to make each happy with their "limited" time!

Mothers day, we split the day if MIL is off from work if not we are @ my moms for the day. Fathers Day I go to the cemetary and visit with my grandfather. I dont speak to my father.

last year we took both moms to breakfast and had dinner at my moms.

this year i dont know what we'll do.

maybe take dh's mom to breakfast and then hang out with my mom.

we'll see.

fathers day we usually see dh's dad for a bit and then spend the rest of the day on the beach with my dad and my family.

my MIL lives in OH, so we send her a big bo-k of flowers.

my folks live 30 miles away, so on both Mothers & Fathers day we go there and have dinner out with them. I usually just get my mom a bo-k of flowers and my dad usually gets a Best Buy gift card.

My MIL passed away 2 years ago, so we only celebrate Father's Day with my FIL. He comes over to my parents house our our house for a BBQ.

For Mother's Day we go out to dinner with my family. I get breakfast in bed from my DH and kids.

We used to do Brunch at our house for everyone. Then we would go to dinner at my in-laws. Last year was my first mothers day and we did me, DS and DH alone until the afternoon when we went to my in-laws for a bbq, my mother came too. We always do a bbq for fathers day at the in-laws that includes my family also.

For Mother's Day usually we do an activity with both mothers (Coney Island aquarium or something like that).

Father's day its just my dad, so that makes it really easy.

We celebrate with each separately. We never thought to do something all together. Usually we do breakfast or lunch at one and dinner with the other. It does make the day a little stressful though, traveling and stuff. I like to give them each their own time with us. We will probably continue this in the future (this is our first married year).

I was born on Mother's Day so my birthday either falls on Mother's Day or right around there. My mom usually does a combined birthday / mother's day dinner. Last year, I think we went to DH's parents for father's day. We will probably do something similar this year, thought I feel bad that my mom always winds up cooking on mother's day.

DH's mom is in Chicago so we call/send flowers

We usually spend the day at my parents' where we plant all mom's flowers and veggies in the garden and then bbq.

This is my 1st year as a mom, so I don't know if it'll be different.

For us its very easy. DH's family live in another country.

Mother's Day: Brunch with my mom, sister and our families.

Father's Day: Not really celebrating until Dh became and BIL became fathers. I think I made DH breakfast in bed, adn that was it. DH isn't really into those things.

My DH's mom passed away so on Mother's Day we usually go to the cemetery then we go and spend the day with my mom and sisters etc (usually BBQ).

Father's Day we usually also spend with my Dad and my family, but we bring DH's Dad along.

DH doesn't have any siblings, so we usually just include his Dad on whatever my family is doing.

We do breakfast with my inlaws. Dinner with my parents.
This year my parents anniversary falls on Mother's Day and its also my First Mother's Day so I dont know if DH and I will do something alone the day before maybe. Im sure these plans will "stick".
We do the same for Father's Day.

We usually spend the saturday with one family and then the sunday with the other. It is hard b/c my DH has 3 sisters and I have 2 siblings so we can't just get everyone together too easy. And our parents live about an hour apart so we usually just try to do the saturday with one family and sunday with the other.

This year we'll see what happens...it will be my 1st mothers day and my DH's 1st fathers day so maybe we can get everyone together for at least one of them.

for Mothers Day my MIL usually joins with my family and we all go out for brunch or dinner

for Fathers day we have a BBQ, my FIL lives out of country so we never spend it with him, just my family!
