Ants!!!

Is anyone else having an ant problem this time of year?
OMG my house is infested with these super super tiny ants. Like minuscule. And the worst part- they are in my DD's room. Chat Icon
And she freaks out about them.
I don't want to spray chemicals in her room- is there anything more natural I can do to get rid of them?

I also have them all over my desk at work these past few days. I am freaking out!

Re: Ants!!!

That happens to me at least once per year.. the worst! I put those little traps all around and it gets rid of them within a few days. (The ants are attracted to them and get the food, which is poison, and bring it back to the rest of their little friends. LOL)

Ants!!!

A few of my friends are already having problems too. Thankfully not us yet, but we started getting our yard treated last year so i don't know if that is helping right now. We started using the Terro traps. It's gel bait in an ant trap and they work great! When you first put them down you will see tons and tons of ants migrating to the traps. It's very important that you dont kill them, I know this is hard. But they are bringing the bait back to their home and it will kill them all off. They are not natural, but try to find where they are coming from and put the traps close to there under. I usually place them under furniture against the wall of the room that the ants are in. The Terro traps are the best ones we've used so far and it has gotten pretty bad in our house during "ant season". It took a few days but with the exception of a few stragglers here and there, the terro traps have gotten rid of them.

Yes I have to buy the ant bait traps.
I would spray Raid except it's in DD's room and as much as I don't mind chemicals- I figure I better spare her of it while she's still young!

I had this problem in the fall... The thing that worked the best was the terro liquid ant traps. Those ******* were gone within 2 days.

Re: Ants!!!

try mixing cornmeal with borax and place small mounds in corners or doorwarys where you see them. they'll eat and share it with the others and die because they can't digest it

Ants!!!

Mix Borax in sugar water and place in an empty soda can or something else your pets can't get into. It will get worse for like 2 days then they'll be gone!
Just be careful it is poison but works!!

Borax is not poison. It is quite non-toxic, the mineral boron combined with a salt.
Boric Acid on the other hand is toxic.

I mix it with dry sugar and sprinkle it on ant hills in my garden. They disappear within days.
I also run a thin line of borax along the door and window sills to prevent the ants from coming in.

Re: Ants!!!

we had a major problem last march/april and the ONLY thing that helped was Quantum from Terminex. Tiny, tiny sugar ants!

Dear god, heavenly father... please do not let those ants return. I may lose my mind!

Ants!!!

a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar & water. I had ants on my kitchen counter and I sprayed down the counter with this stuff 3 times and haven't seen the ants again. Try spraying their trails with the vinegar & water a few times and you shouldn't have a problem.

Re: Ants!!!

I have them too in spring mostly. There is an organic spray to kill them that is peppermint and rosemary oil. It just kills tho you need the traps to keep them at bay. You can find it at Home Depot.
