Flat head doctor referrals please

Hi I'm a first time mom worried about my child's flat head. I was hoping to get some recommendations of doctors to see for an evaluation? Other than a pediatric neurosurgeon, is it a good idea to see a Craniofacial specialist? Other than Dr. Mittler and Dr. Rosenn, any other recommendations? Did you find these doctors particularly pro-helmet? I am having a hard time getting a quick appointment as my child is approaching 6 months so time is of the essence. Sorry to ramble, I am just so panicked. Thanks!!!

I used Dr Rosenn. You just need to see a ped neurologist. You would only need to see a surgeon or Craniofacial if it is soemthing more than just a flat spot.

Dr Rosenn recommended a helmet for my son but he had a rather severe case of plagiocephaly, so I think anyone would have recommended it.

We used him too. I don't feel he was pro helmet, I felt he was very knowledgeable and in my dd's case did not recommend a helmet. He said we could get one if we wanted, but he felt it was not needed. She had just started sitting and he felt it would even out. He had me take video and photos to compare for our next appointment. He was right, and it did even out significantly. At just about 2 years, her head is perfectly round. I really liked him.

Not unless its needed. My ds had a flat spot and we saw him at 3m give or take a week or so. He said wait come back and let's see. My ds flat spot wa virtually gone by the time we went back.

He said he didn't need it unless we wanted a perfect head. But he said his is so minor now the average person would never see and he'd even have to look closely.

He was very honest about it all.

Thanks for all the info! On going to call Dr. Rosenn's office first thing Monday for an appointment. Is it hard to get a quick appointment with him?

Any other doctor recommendations?

I was very satisfied with Dr. Miter. If you are not going to him because of apt. availability, maybe they could squeeze you in sooner? They did for me. Good luck and fm me with any questions.

I would recommend going to Cranial Tech for a free consult. Can't hurt. We went for 4 opinions for my DS (ped, Mittler, an ortho & crainial tech) & we went with cranial tech. This is all they do & their helmets (doc band) are open on top and smaller. I felt more comfortable going someplace that focuses on just this issue.

There are several girls on here here who used cranial tech if you do a search. Here's their site

Feel free to fm me if any questions Chat Icon

We also went with cranial tech. I would totally go to them for an opinion ASAP. My son wore helmet when he was 6-8Months. The older they get the longer they have to wear it. It will become uncomfortable & they will start pulling off. GO NOW

Insurance coverage varies even if you have the same company you may have different policies. I would suggest calling to find out.
Also, regarding flat head....it's acutally called placiocephaly if you want to google it.
