I FINALLY had him!

On Friday the 19th, it showed during my ultrasound that his fluid was very low so I agreed to being induced knowing time was only going to make the fluid levels worse. I went in that night and the Dr. did a Foley with a Pitocin drip. 20 hrs of labor, from the start it was 2 mins apart the entire time with double & triple contractions ( didnt know that existed ) when my water was broken there was meconium so it was already getting on the risky side. If the OB told me I needed a section due to the baby's stool, I wouldve done it then and there but he said it was very little so I trusted him but kept in mind that it was a risk I was going to take very seriously and it was always one of my exceptions to agreeing to a c-section. Got to 6cm and my body flipped the eff out. I was literally getting no break in between contractions (and i had no sleep for 2 days) and i couldnt breath through them anymore. I had not made a peep my entire labor ( which freaked out the nurses and OB lol) and I just started to fall apart, i had ALOT of bottom pressure so i thought maybe i started to dilate fast and was near 10cm because i couldnt imagine why i would feel this bad and for 5 hrs no progress even with upping the Pit so i thought maybe the physical stress of the pain was stalling me more and at that point it was simply not tolerable (like i wouldve seriously chosen death over another contraction lol) so I finally gave in to a Epi. It was actually wonderful, best rest of my life and I hoped calming my body was the last hope because nothing was working otherwise. So a few hours of that, they maxxed out my pit usage and a total of 8 hrs stuck at 6cm with no hope of progressing and only highly risking rupture from all the pit and also with my water gone, if he had meconium again and inhaled it he would get very sick and can be fatal. So after 8 hours of being stuck, there were more risks then hope so we gave in to the c-section.My OB was great and took it as far as we could where we were able to agree at the same point that pushing the labor any longer would just only make bad things happened. It was hard to throw in the towel but I knew it was time but it was still very emotionally upsetting to accept. I was hysterical crying from the point i consented to when they cutting me open ( then i could barely keep myself awake) , everyone tried comforting me and i just couldnt calm down. I felt guilty like it took away from when he was actually born but I literally only had minutes to grieve 10 months of preparing for a vbac and terrfied of the recovery I knew i was going to have (and feeling like it would suck all the joy out of having a newborn) . He was born extremely alert, wide eyed, content and healthy. I asked the Dr. before i went home if during the c/s if he could see anything that was causing me to stall and he said the baby's head was positioned right and moving down because he had that moulding conehead to prove it but he thinks he was too big for me. I dont really buy into the whole " baby is too big to birth thing" unless they are over 10lbs plus maybe so I dont know what to think of that. However as soon as he was born he was pooping nonstop in recovery and the following 24 hrs so i def think within an hours time if I waited out the labor more he would of def had meconium aspiration and I couldnt have lived with myself or forgive myself if that happen to him knowing i could have prevented it. So to me that made it worth it knowing it was so close to becoming an health danger for him and I made the right call at the right time. In the end I really appreciated my OB, he really respected all our choices and knew how bad we wanted this so he took it as far as we could and had far more patience in waiting for me progressed then a typical Dr would. My Winthrop stay was great and every single nurse I had was amazing!!! I was having a pretty rough recovery up until day 5 ( yesterday) Grateful I am finally feeling better and thank God, my son is exceptionally good baby! He's sleeps through the night, takes the longest naps, never cries unless he has a dirty diaper and nurses like a champ. I seriously could not have asked for a more easier , perfect, beautiful baby. Congratulations!! I'm sorry you didn't get to have the VBAC but I agree with you -- in the end it was for the best. And now you have a beauitful healthy baby boy!
