we did it! (FINALLY WITH PICS!)
YEY! I am officially a mommy and dh is a daddy to a cute 8 1/2 week old beagle who we named louie! (SEE ATTACHED PICS, BUT HE IS MUCH CUTER IN PERSON!)
its funny b/c we never would have thought of a beagle (maybe a beagle mix, he is from north shore animal league) and he is so much smaller than we are used to, but he is ours - we took him home today after I went back alone to nsal (following our dimal trip the other day!). he is brand new to the shelter and was only neutered on thursday - poor lil guy!  , but there he was among all these other puppies and i just saw him in our home, so after calling dh a million times and sending him camera phone pics (on the downlow from there!), we decided to get him rather than wait until dh got off work at 3:30 and risk another family getting him.
i would not recommend ever bringing a new puppy home on your own, by the way, as I was so nervous driving to pick up DH at work - but his boss was so excited she let him go home ealry after i got there and we paraded him around the office - her only request was that she get to see him! :)
he is so cute and a happy dog, too - always wagging his tail! Dh is impressed by hs intelligence since he has already learned some "wrong" behaviors (ie - chewing a rug, to name one!  ) and is very alert to everything going on. even as a few people set off fireworks a little while ago, he listened but didn't cringe or cry like others do, and we are enjoying him.....
this is my first puppy ever - i had dh's dog as a grown dog for a few yrs but growing up my mom always said NO! so i had goldfish! 
so far, so good....but the hard part is yet to come, i know! Image Attachment(s):

are you going to keep him in the kitchen with a baby gate?? THat might not be a bad idea. Also, if he is gated off, put an alarm clock in
there. It will remind him his mother.
I got my two cats from nsal. they are great!!!

Congratulations!!! How exciting! Remember, with puppies, they are exhausting. They will drive you crazy and get into everything. They will make you go insane. But then one day, suddenly, they will understand sit, stay, come, kisses, wanna go out, wanna cookie, and every other thing you will say and be the most perfect little creature in the world. It just takes time. So have fun  I am so happy for you. And regi is right about the alarm clock, just make sure it is the ticking kind, not a digital read out!

His name is louie, he is sooooo good - he slept all night long, woke up when dh came home, went out and peed and then i put him back to sleep until 10!!!!

he is adorable!!! What a cutie pie!! Is he a barker? Beagles tend to bark alot, I think. My pug/beagle mix barks at retarded stuff.

luckily he barely barks, when we crate him soemtimes he does, but mostly he is really good and quiet....we can't believe it so far but knock on wood all the time!

He is so cute!!! I would love to get a puppy, but since we have a baby due in 3 months and our yard is not fenced in, it is not a good time...eventually we will get one.
