Luteal phase defect

Hi all, so my RE confirmed that I have LPD. This seems to have caused my very early m/c's. I'm going to start progesterone suppositories this cycle then I'll have to get another endo biopsy done to see if my lining improved. If not ill have to also go on clomid and the last resort is injectables.
My RE Also mentioned that I seem to have low body fat. I am kind of underweight, although I eat very healthy and I don't skimp on calories. However, he said that low bodyweight could mean low estrogen levels, so I am making a big effort now to eat full fat foods and gain a few pounds.
Also, I am going to call an acupuncturist today and try to start going. Hopefully this will help with a healthy in balance in my body.
Has anyone been this similar situation?
Thanks in advance!

I'm in a similar situation but I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you yet. I have had 3 early miscarriages.

I also have a LPD. I take Crinone every cycle from 3 dpo until I take a hpt (or go in for a beta-but it is too hard for me to make it to work from there so I just do the hpts at home).

I am *just* at the normal BMI level, so I am on the underweight side. The worst thing is that I am eating even healthier now (I've cut out sugar, a lot of carbs/all white products) and now I've lost weight which is not something I need. What are you eating to gain weight while still following a healthy TTC diet?

I recently started acupuncture and I do yoga and I have found that it has helped a lot mentally-I guess time will tell if it helps in other areas as well Chat Icon

Hopefully our REs can figure something out. Sending Chat Icon your way.

So it sounds like we are in similar boats! I just picked up the Crinone today and will start it in a few days after ovulation. How is it working out for you?

To gain weight I just started eating more full-fat foods like cheese, yogurts, and trying to eat more beef (not as of yet.. but I will).. even grass-fed butter. I'm going to try to eat MORE also, b/c I do get full pretty quickly. I don't think it'll be easy. I also bought healthy cookies and I'll have one a night.

How do you like the acupuncture? I have my first appointment later this week. I LOVE yoga and feel it helps me.

Good Luck to you as well!Chat Icon

The crinone works. It definitely lengthens my cycle. There are aspects of it I'm not crazy about. I have found that it can mimic some pregnancy symptoms so that's something to watch out for.

Yeah, eating more is a problem but I guess I'll just have to force myself to eat more throughout the day. I think I'm going to start trying to eat an egg a day (in some form) to get more protein into my diet.

I also just started acupuncture. I've only been seen twice. I'm really happy with the acupuncturist though. He seems knowledgeable and even wanted to review all of my records. Like I said, I feel it has helped me to "feel" better about everything but I definitely look forward to seeing what other positive results it can bring Chat Icon He has his own take on the progesterone issue and feels that acunpuncture and herbs can regulate my cycle in a natural way. For now I'm going to use a combination of the three because I don't feel comfortable going off of the Crinone.

Ok so I'm glad to be starting the crinone!
An egg a day is a great idea. I read that we need the good cholesterol. Also coconut is very good.
I'm excited to begin acupuncture and maybe herbs. Which herbs are you using?

Hi, just a question about the crinone, when did you start to feel pregnancy symptoms? Today is my 5th day on it and I don't really feel anything..
Thanks!!

The ones that I get, usually around 7 dpo, are frequent urination (waking up in the middle of the night to pee a few times) and swollen breasts. Everyone reacts to medication differently so hopefully you'll be lucky and not get any of that!

If you are looking for a good acupuncturist mine in Oyster bay is AMAZING and specializes in fertility. I got pg after my first m/c with her..and I'm back with her after my 2nd. Let me know :)

Oh okay, yeah I don't really have any symptoms… Which makes me feel that perhaps the crinone is not really working. I am charting, like I have been the last couple of months, and I don't see much of a difference with my temperatures while on crinone.

Oh thanks for the information. I found one in Comack that is covered by my insurance, she seems very good so far. Right now I am on herbs to clean out my blood, then she will put me on herbs to stimulate my follicles. Is your experience similar? I go to her twice a week and she wants me to wait until July to start trying again.
