Need advice

Need advice

I was wondering if anyone else has gone through my situation. The night of Sandy I went into labor and delivered two beautiful baby boys, Lucien and Roman. I was just 27 weeks pregnant. Sadly, one of our boys didn't make it through the night and passed away from a nasty infection. His brother was in the NICU for 10 weeks but he's been home for about 2 months now and he's doing great. Although we've been through hell, I feel so blessed that Roman's healthy and I thank God every day for giving me such an amazing family and friends. But, sometimes, I feel so guilty that I'm not being a good mother to Lucien because I'm grateful for my life.

Just wondering if anyone has been through something similar and if you know of any support groups for parents with a similar experience. Also, how do you deal with the guilt.

Welcome to the boards.

Congratulations on the birth on your sons. And I'm so sorry for the loss of Lucien. Roman will always have an angle looking over him.

Can you talk to your pediatrician? Maybe they can recommend a support group.

Re: Need advice

Im so sorry for your loss. You have been through so much, a nightmare...its normal for you to feel this guilt, and Im sure you will have a sore spot in your heart forever. I dont think that a mother can ever truly heal from the wound losing a child brings. But with that said, I think it is amazing, and incredible strong of you to realize that Roman is here and is strong and healthy and that you have a lot to be thankful for. He still needs you no matter what, and it seems that you are giving him what he needs, despite your grieving. Im sorry i dont have any suggestions or support groups to recommend, but I just want to let you know that you will get through this, and every day the pain from the guilt will lessen. God bless you and your family!!

I'm so sorry for the loss of Lucien, and so happy that Roman is ok.
I would def talk to your ped. to see if he/she knows of any support groups in your area.

I'm so sorry for you loss but admire your strength! Truly inspiring.
Have you asked your hospital? They may even host a support group for parents who have been through similar situations.

Re: Need advice

There are therapists that specialize in maternal loss.
I'd search one out in your area & go see them.
I'd find this too difficult to handle on my own.

Re: Need advice

I don't know if you are in the area, but I believe LIJ has a support group for parents of late term miscarriages and infant losses. My brother and sister in law went to them for a little and it helped! I am so sorry for your loss. Your little one has a little angel looking over him!

Need advice

so sorry for your loss. my good friend lost one of her twins and she has confided in me that she is so grateful to have her daughter but she feels guility as well that her daughter is alive and healthy and her son is not.
she has not spoken to anyone or gone to a support group, and i know it continues to challenge her. i wish you good luck in getting through this. my only advice would be try try and enjoy your son and know his brother is watching over him.
