Does DH help in the morning?

My DH is a pretty hands on dad. But he is absolutely no help in the mornings! He has to be up for work anyway, I don't work until the afternoon. I think he should get up and get DS off to school at least once a week to give me a break, but that doesn't happen. I think at least one of the weekend mornings should be his responsibility, and that's not to say he never gets up with them, but it is not consistent or frequent.
How do mornings work in your house?

Does DH help in the morning?

During the week I'm on my own in the mornings. Getting us both out the door can be challenging at times. Weekends we both get up. He'd sleep in if I let him, but we both work FT and DD is a Daddy's girl so his behind needs to get up and spend time with her.

Re: Does DH help in the morning?

Define help....LOL! No, he doesn't help at all in the morning! He sits at the kitchen counter eating his breakfast and reading the newspaper on the Ipad while I run around to get everything done. He too is a very hands on Dad, however something about the mornings....I am with ya!

Re: Does DH help in the morning?

Dh helps in the morning. I am up first always. He hears us on the monitor and he comes in the girls room. He will change diapers while I get breakfast started or vice versa. A lot of nights he doesn't get home until after the girls are already sleep so he likes to spend some time in the morning with them.

During the week, DH does most of the morning stuff since daycare opens at 7am and I like to catch a 6:34 train. On weekends, it's usually both of us or just me while DH is at work.

Does DH help in the morning?

DH is the one who is the main caretaker in the morning for DS. I get up at 5 and get myself ready and get DS out of bed at 615 and we both get DS dressed but DH takes over from there. I leave for my train at 640 and DH takes DS to daycare at 730. SO the morning are mostly him.

If I was home later it would be me. THe days I work from home or are off I take care of him.

Yes, we both leave at the same time so we both get the kids ready and out the door.

Does DH help in the morning?

We both go to work early so DH helps me out a lot in the morning. I have to leave the house first so while I pack up my and DS's things for the day (bottles, sippy cups, etc), DH gets DS dressed. I warm up the morning bottle and hand it off to DH to feed DS while I shower and dress. I'm very thankful he helps me out so much because I don't know what I'd do otherwise. DS wakes up before my alarm even goes off so I don't get a chance to do anything while he's still asleep.

DH and I made a deal that he does more in the mornings and I do more at night. So far it's been working for us.

Re: Does DH help in the morning?

I don't work a typical 9-5 job. So If I'm working I'm not there in the morning so it's all on DH. If I'm off then it's all on me. I take the baby all day and when DH gets home I still take care of the baby. Dh does put her to bed. He just doesn't get that I'm up all day and work all night. Men just don't get it.

Re: Does DH help in the morning?

I get tiny tot up at 620am nursre her for 15mins. Hang out with her for a bit. After I get dressed. I get her dressed and leave her in her play pen pack the diaper bag for the day and head out for work. DH does the rest because her daycare is at his office.

On the weekends I'm on my own with her. He works a lot so I let him sleep in.

Does DH help in the morning?

DH goes into work around 5am. I get up at 6:15. Shower/iron/get ready for work. DD is 2 and wakes around 7ish. I make her lunch and start her breakfast.
DH (works close by/has own business), comes back home at 7:30 so I can leave for work. He feeds her, chills out with her & gets her dressed and drops her at daycare around 9.
I can't get us both ready and drop her off and be at work all by 8. I also feel bad about waking her and leaving her at daycare at 7;30.

Re: Does DH help in the morning?

yes...i would be a mess if he didn't! he watches DS while I shower then vice versa. He usually changes DS diaper and clothes...i take longer to get ready so he has some more time in the morning. Its a big help.

Does DH help in the morning?

He does. He is responsible for handling DS after I leave for work. He has to drive him to daycare too. I'll ask him to help me out with various things while I'm also getting ready but for the most part I dress DS, take him to the bathroom, prepare his meals for daycare, etc...

On the weekends, he definitely sleeps in and I have to handle everything, especially if DS wakes up early.

Re: Does DH help in the morning?

I'm on the train by 6am before anyone is awake.

So actually, DH does it ALL in the am.

On the weekends, I usually let him sleep and get up with the kids and do breakfast since I dont see them in the am during the week.

Does DH help in the morning?

My husband is actually a huge help on weekday mornings. But he doesn't work until late morning usually. The way we do it is, I get up first, and get myself ready. Then, if our 1yo wakes up by then, I go in and nurse him, then my husband takes him and feeds him breakfast while I pack lunches/schoolbags. Then one of us will get the little one changed and dressed while the other one gets our 3yo up and dressed. On Saturdays, he always sleeps in while I get up with the boys. And Sundays, he works in theorning, so that's all me too.

Does DH help in the morning?

My house is opposite. I'm out the door by 6:15am to go to work. My DH gets my DS up, dressed, and takes him to daycare every day. (Sometimes the outfits he picks for my son are a little weird... LOL)

On weekends, we usually split it up. One day one of us gets up with DS and the other stays in bed and reverse it the next day.

Re: Does DH help in the morning?

No, I do everything in the morning.

For the most part DH has already left for work by the time DS & I get up.

However, on the rare morings that he is still there, he still does nothing. Its still me getting DS up and ready to leave.

Weekends DH gets DS's milk but thats about it. I still have to make breakfast and change his diaper.

I do mornings during the week because DH isn't home. We take turns sleeping in on the weekends.

Re: Does DH help in the morning?

I work 12 hour days, 3 days a week. So when I work (either day or night) I am never home in the morning when DS has to get up and go to daycare. My DH gets him up and dressed, then he takes him to daycare (its in a house) and they give him breakfast. I do pack his bag the night before and make his sippy cups with milk and juice. When I work weekends again DH has to do it all. But when I am off I try and do it so he can get a break. So I guess we about split it over the week.

Re: Does DH help in the morning?

This is why I like you bc we are alike. I could've written something similiar.
The answer is No. He is very hards on and helps when he gets home, baths, etc.
Mornings he is on a one path road to work and doesn't take a turn. Basically meaning his only concentration is getting himself to work while I get the boys up ready, me ready, breakfast, DS1 off to school, etc. I work from home so after I get a moment (which is after cleanup, settling DS2 down, etc) I can take out my laptop, check vm, etc.

Eta... DH own his own construction business so some days he is off early and other days he doesn't have to work till later. No matter what it is he still does the same thing in the morning and concentrates on himself. Chat Icon
