I'M HAVING SURGERY IN THE MORNING-UPDATE- I'm Back!!
I have a 10:30 appointment at the oral surgeon to get my wisdom tooth pulled. I am in excruciating pain, not even vicodin are helping, and I have had no sleep the past two days. Luckily they were able to get me in first thing tomorrow!! I am getting kncoked out, which DH yelled at me because it costs a heck of a lot more to be knocked out, but there is no way I can stay awake for this!!
We are supposed to go to my SIL's birthday party tomorrow night, do you think I'll be ok by 5:30 to go out, with meds of course? I can't miss this, so I guess I'll just **** up the pain to go!! Never had this before so I don't know what to expect!! Thanks!!

When I had mine done, I had all 4 done at once and was okay in about 24 hours (other than swelling and a tough time eating). It's the pain medicine that really knocks you out. Good luck

i just had one of my wisdom teeth pulle dlast week b/c i was in the SAME pain (up all night in tears.. i couldnt take it). They didnt gas me though- just gave me one shot of novicane, let it set in, and then it took not even 3 minutes for him to pull the tooth! Honestly, it was not bad at all, and SOOOOO much better than the pain youre in now (i still have to get the other 3 pulled to, so just remind me of this conversation, ok?   )
the only yucky part is that it bleeds for a few hours (i think i still had bleeding after 5 hours), but as long as you keep changing the gauze, you'll be fine. Im not sure about the party,,, you can definately make an appearance, but i dont know if i'd be up to partying all night. The painkillers will make it fine, but i just think i wouldve been uncomfortable being 'out' b/c i just kinda felt out of it (again, that was probably from the pain killers though)

Getting knocked out is worth it. I was not and it was not pleasant. As far as being able to go out, I know I was in pretty bad pain and way loopy from the meds. Everybody is different though so you might bounce back really quick. Good luck!!!!!

I had a bad experience with all 4 of my wisdoms out at the same time, one was infected, and I also have ankylosis, which means that my teeth are fused to the bone rather than being right next to them. He said it would take less than an hour, well it took over two to get them all out.
But that is my luck with dentists. The ankylosis really killed me.
I have friends who DID go to a party right after.. in fact, I'm the ONLY one I know who had a bad experience.. everyone else said it was fine.. a piece of cake!!

ohhhhh i hate that feeling too, but it wasnt too horrible. ya just shove it in the back corner, and its not too bad 
(after a while, i thought it was a little comfortable even, b/c my gums didnt feel 'as exposed' where they took the tooth out, ya know)
it really is a million times better than the pain though

I had one of mine done 2 years ago. They "knocked me out" and it was nothing! DH said I was in "recovery" longer then the actual dentist chair. You do bleed for a while and I took a nice nap after too.

I had all four done at the same time and two molars ( 6 teeth) and I was not put out , it was not as bad as expected...It feels uncomfortable...being put out helps and that shouldnt be an issue.
There is not a lot of PAIN afterwards, but it does take some time. I didnt not feel completly better for about 2 weeks...I didnt eat anything solid for about 3-4 days( but I had 6 pulled remember) ....TAKE the pain meds they give you...dont use straws, smoke and careful brushing and you shouldnt be more then a little uncomfortable!!
Its not that bad, you'll be ok!

oh yeah... make sure the dentist gives you a small list of things to do/not to to take care of them (some that Donna already mentioned).... i feel like sometimes they forget b/c they do it everyday

Mike had all 4 done at one time. He was not comfy and his cheeks were puffy. BUT you might be able to do it for a few hours. My cousin had hers done and then went to my other cousins shower she lasted.
I have to get mine done

Um chances are you will NOT be going to any party tomorrow. If your teeth are impacted you're going to be out of commission for several days. Even if they aren't you are going to be wiped out and in pain - and it will be bleeding. Good luck, I hope you feel better soon...but I seriously would not plan on going to the party.

I'm Back!!! And I feel great!! Still a little LOOPY, but fun loopy!!! We were in and out in an hour!! They put the needle in my arm, the doc said ok, you'll be feeling fine in noooo..timeee....buh bye, next thing I knew I was woken up and taken into a recovery room, stayed there about 10 minutes and headed out the door!! And I am really in no pain. I know they shot me with stuff to knock me out and for pain, but I feel amazingly great. Even I can talk, smile, eat. Well, I am going to go rest to let the drugs run out of my system in hopes of going out tonight!! Thank you everyone!!!
