Who was responsible for you getting power back?

Seems everyone I know getting their power back this last week has had an out of state crew do it. Just curious to see what the LIF poll shows.

Re: Who was responsible for you getting power back?

not sure about this time but with Irene it was a crew from n. carolina
this time my brother's street had guys from out of state and so did two friends of mine. also, my parents block had crews from Maryland.
i've personally seen more out of state crews than regular LIPA trucks around here (e. northport)

Our block was from Canada. I can't recall if they were from Nova Scotia or New Brunswick.

We got it back on day 7 but it was in the middle of the night, and we never once saw any trucks in our neighbor so we have no clue how our power came back.

Our crews were from Indiana and New Rochelle. One if the lineman from Indiana reconnected my lines from the house to the pole pointed out that one of the supply lines attached to my house was burnt out when it pulled away from the outside lines. I was told that my electrician was supposed to splice a new line in. However, since they had the wire he did it for me which took him about 40 minutes to do. I was very grateful. I can't help but wonder if LIPA would have done the same?

We had the NICEST crew from Wisconsin! We all even sent emails to their parent company thanking them.

Re: Who was responsible for you getting power back?

We had a crew from Colorado put the power lines back up in our backyard and fix the shattered pole. The same crew has been in my neighborhood for days getting power back to the rest of my neighborhood. I have not seen one LIPA truck anywhere in my town or neighborhood.

Jacksonville Power Authority! They were wonderful. My neighbor just got his power back yesterday and the crew that came was Northville from upstate. I have yet to see a LIPA truck!

A Wisconsin power group, these guys rock! They let us know exactly what was going on and told us they weren't leaving our area until every house was up. We were out 12 days, but finally we have power.

Both! LIPA restored our block last Tues., but we discovered a problem from the pole to our house (we only had partial power) and a team from Michigan came yesterday to take down & replace the wires to the house.

Re: Who was responsible for you getting power back?

I am in no way defending LIPA, they have handled all of this poorly - but they only have about 100 employees which is why so many out of state crews are here. National Grid (the natural gas side) is helping to coordinate efforts.

Who was responsible for you getting power back?

I don't know because we live in an apartment building and weren't home because it was just too cold. I did see many trucks from Quebec, South Carolina and other areas when I was driving around. What aggravated me most is that LIPA has offices/trucks in Hewlett...I'm 2 towns over and we were without power for almost 2 weeks. I really hate that they weren't updating appropriately either. It's nice that you have 700 linemen in the Town of Hempstead, but the Town of Hempstead is about 22 villages. If they had given a breakdown stating on what date they were hitting up which villages, I think people would have been less annoyed because then they would have at least KNOWN when to expect power, KWIM?
