My DD never took to them however, she was a thumb sucker from birth........and still is at 3.5

Yup this is my first DS. He took to a pacifier when he was a newborn, but soon discovered his thumb. It is a hard habit to break.

My second DS likes the pacifier, but only certain types. He hated two brands that I had, and I had to go out and buy different ones to try out. He has his favorite.

Nope, none of my 3 really like or used them. I tried. They found their thumbs instead. And gave them up on their own eventually as well.

I didn't want to give pacifiers to DS and for the most part I didn't (even in the hospital I would ake them out of the bassinet). A couple of times I tried to give one to him when all else was failing but he would spit it right out. I am so glad he never liked them

Never gave it to either DS, and neither ever took it! Saves you trouble later down the road! Don't even give it!

You know in the beginning he didn't love them but I kept using them when he was fussy or wouldn't sleep and holding them there bc they WOULD keep him quiet/help him fall asleep. Now he likes them.

Mine wouldnt take to them, till he started teething at 3m. At 6m started using them only for sleep. At 12m took away completly.

He really loved his thumb, I know its natural, normal, whatever, but I couldnt stomach it, I would wait for him to fall asleep pull out his thumb, put paci in mouth and some easy to grasp toy in hand. He soon got used to sleeping with it and started to prefer it over his thumb, and never went back to thumb sucking.

DS was never interested in them. If it didn't have food coming out of it, he got mad! Chat Icon

With DS... I tried NOT to give him a paci. He sucked his fingers & then I stopped this habit when he was older.

With DD... I tried TO GIVE her the paci. She is just not interested... but is not a finger sucker either.

DS hated pacifiers from birth. He literally spit out the one they gave him in the hospital all the time.

I'm thankful now that he just turned 2. I don't have to worry about getting rid of it.
