whats the best type of class for an out of shape person?

i want to join a class, something fast paced and interesting. i have friends who do zumba and boot camp...but they are really into working out and im scared to do the classes!

background...im out of shape, about 30 pounds overweight, and i have no coordination lol have you ever taken a class with someone like me in it? i just dont want to be the only one there who has no clue what they are doing. the treadmill / eliptical at the gym just arent cutting it for me anymore, i have zero interest.

thanks

i LOVE LOVE LOVE Zumba.. i was 180lbs when u started Zumba... i am now fluctuate between 148-154 (due to me quitting smoking)

i give credit to Zumba and i throw in 2 other misc classes a week, but i know plenty of people who just do Zumba and have lost tons of weight.

its fun, fast and you don't need to be in shape for it.

if it weren't for Zumba, i wouldn't have started the other 2 classes i take during the week. Zumba prepped me for other classes.

What about spinning?

Yes it can be hard and faced paced, but you can also go at your own pace, set your own resistance, and you can see yourself getting stronger.

Definitely different, but I love, love, love Bikram aka Hot Yoga.

The majority of my classes, self-included, are not the yoga rockstar types you would picture in your mind.

One of the reasons I love this class is because it's always the same 26 postures so me, also totally uncoordinated, was able to learn how to do them pretty quickly. Even if I cannot fully get into a posture, neither can half the class so I do not feel like an azz at all, plus no one is looking anyways.

The studio I go to (as do most) offers a beginner special of $20.00 for 10 consecutive days of unlimited classes.

I took my first zumba class ladt night & had a blast. There were women of all different ages, shapes, weight & athletic ability there. You pick up the moves rather quickly & if you can't, you can still do some basic steps to stay with the class. I sweated so much but it wasn't like I was working out, more having fun. I'm in for 10 weeks, so I'm hoping to see some results.

agree with zumba, you just have to try your best to keep up, the trick is really just to keep moving for an hour. i like it so much better then the treadmill.
