Seriously whats wrong with people??
Boy left in car in this heat
updated story:
An Old Brookville woman who left her 1-year-old daughter in a car in a Huntington Station parking lot Friday morning -- on the hottest day of the year -- faces a charge of endangering the welfare of a child, Suffolk County police said.
Aimee Rachlin, 26, of 36 Valentines Lane, apparently was shopping in one of the stores at the Big H shopping center on New York Avenue at about 11:15 a.m. and left her daughter in the back seat of a 2011 black Mercedes, police said.
Second Precinct police responding to 911 calls found the girl "sweating profusely" inside the car, with the back windows slightly open and the doors unlocked, police said.
The girl was unharmed and placed in an air-conditioned police car.
Police said she was left inside the car, which was parked in direct sunlight, for about 15 minutes.
She was given water and fruit at the Second Precinct and then released to her mother, police said.
Rachlin was released on bail at the precinct and the Office of Children and Family Services was notified about the incident, police said.

I can only see the 1st 2 paragraphs of the story but I get the jist of it, why wouldn't she take the kid inside?? What is wrong with her??

A police spokeswoman said the woman apparently was shopping in one of the stores at the Big H shopping center on New York Avenue at about 11:15 a.m. and left the boy in the backseat of a black Mercedes.
Onlookers called police, who responded and found the boy sweating inside the car, with the back windows partially open and the doors unlocked, the spokeswoman said.
The spokeswoman said the woman was released on bail at the station.

If the car was unlocked, why didn't a bystander take the child out of the car until the police got there? I can't imagine watching a child sweat to death inside the car while I waited for police to arrive. I'd rather get in trouble for that than watch the kid suffer.

It's 100 degrees NOT in the sun. I swear I want to hunt this woman down, beat her and make her sit in the back of her car. People like that make me so so so so so farking mad.

I can't believe they released that little girl back into her mother's care. Sorry but that is ridiculous! Had those police NOT found that little girl and gotten her out of the car she probably would've died. Clearly this poor child has an extremely unfit mother. Unfortunately, I am sure for this little girl there will be a "next time". So reckless. Some parents!!

Money talks. Im sure they thought it was an accident, and how could a mom driving a benz, be so irresponsible.
I hate reading stories like this. I want to smack this mother right in the head.

First of all- my car was 125 degrees inside when I got in it before. The gauge read 125 degrees as the internal temp. How can you leave a child in this heat?
Second of all- I don't care if it's 50 degrees out- who leaves a ONE YEAR OLD in a car alone? For even a minute.
Third of all- how did they give this child back to it's mother?
This story is ridiculous!

I read a girl and she also left the doors unlocked. How she got custody back is beyond me

I work at a retail store and a few weeks back one of our associates was on lunch and came in to tell us that there was a car in the parking lot with a child sleeping in the backseat with no adult around.
She went out to get the liscence plate for us to page the customer and as she was standing there the lady came out with her bags and left giving the associates dirty looks. They said the child was no more then 2 yrs old and was all sweaty and this was a few weeks back when it was hot but not this hot

This upsets me so much. I have a one year old baby and I am so terrified of him getting ACCIDENTALLY locked in the hot car that I open all the windows in the car before I put him in. I want not a single chance for him to be accidentally locked in that car with the windows not open. And I kid you not, I will walk to the car in the parking lot, open it, open all the windows while I'm holding him, then go back and put him in. This terrifies me and I am sick reading this

the lady is really sick.......
car unlocked - ok so you want some crazy person to steal your child?
window slightly open of 2011 mercedes..... so you must have shut the ac off to go shopping and crack the window because you didn't forget your child, you intentionally left them there . Bring them in with you or get a nanny to watch them while you go out.
it was so hot today the bosses of my office brought in lunch so people wouldnt have to go out. and my old office brought in icecream to keep things cool.
