Anthem dental plan vent...

I had a cleaning...$79.00. I have $1,171.00 available for the year, i need no work but need a flipper to keep 2 spaces open for implants next year and the insurenace will cover NONE of it. I just don't get it, that $1,171.00 will sit there and go unused because they won't cover a dental appliance that is needed. Why not just let me use it up and after my alloted $1,250 per year i will pay out of pocket for the rest? Why do they have to deny my request when i have the benefits available...so frustrating!

ask your dentist to send in a reconsideration claim with a letter stating why u need it, or u should call the insurance company and explain your situation.

That's the thing, they WILL cover part of the implants but won't cover anything for the flipper appliance to keep the 2 spaces open until i can get the implants next year...

its because the flipper is temporary. Most insurances wont cover temporary things. Like if you get a bridge - they will cover the permanent but not the temp one that the dentist makes you. (I work in a dental office)

ETA - you can ask the office manager to send out a letter to the insurance asking them to reconsider, but because a flipper is only temporary they may not approve it. But - cant hurt to try right?
