When do you add your baby or child to your dental insurance plan? vision plan?
Just wondering, when does a child begin needing the dentist? What age would you add them to your dental plan?
I would assume you would not need to do it until age 2 maybe or should they be added to your plan at birth?
What about vision plans?

I added at birth just because it was easier than having to remember to do it at open enrollment...we were just told at 18 months that she needs to have her first dentist visit

I would just do it at birth.
DS hasn't been to the dentist yet, he is 18 months, but I just added him at the same time.

I added at birth. She's 2 next month and already went to dentist twice (fell and hit her only 2 teeth when she was 1 and fell again when she was 18 months.) She's also been to the eye doctor a few times already. You just never know!!!

i just added my son- starting in Jan- he will be 16 months. He wont be going for a routine visit for a while, but i thought if he ever fell and damaged any of his teeth i want him to be covered.

I added my boys to my insurance as soon as they were born.

I added at birth because we added medical at the same time. The cost to go to a family of 3 from a family of 2 was negligible for the dental and vision(a lot for the medical).
