girls with long hair
my hair is really long now, longer than it has been in years.
my issue is: knots!!!!
i feel like a 6 year old girl with knotty hair.
i don't have the greatest hair; it's thin, but i keep getting knots during the day.
any tips?

Im not sure what type of conditioner your using? make sure you let it sit in your hair while your in the shower. I had long hair all my life & never had knots. Don't brush your hair alot either. I brush it once when I'm blowing it & thats it!

I use that Joico, that pricey protein conditioner. And then I deep condition, too. :(
I wish I had non-knottable hair.

Make sure that you get every last knot out when combing your hair through either in the shower or right after you put detangler in. For me, even the smalls knot will just sort of grow if I do not get them out. I probably over condition my hair to counteract this problem but it works for me. I use a heavy conditioner, a leave in conditioner and I just started to also use a leave in conditioner/detangler spray.
Some people's hair is just more prone to knots. I have some friends who just never get them no matter what products they use or even if they do not fully comb out their hair.

I find if I wear something with a high neck in the back I get a ton of knots.
I try and make sure my head is COMPLETELY knot free every morning when I brush it or it just gets worse as the day goes on.

it's funny you say this..i swear, this happened since i started wearing my winter coat!!! which has a high neck!!

I think long hair gets knottier in the winter because it has to lay over hoods, scarves, coats etc. There is a lot to get it messed up. Add dry winter air into the equation and you've got dreads. There are some nights I come home and I literally have a birds nest underneath with silky hair lying on top. I deep condition once a week, use a shine serum (not too much) and a detangler.I have long fine/medium hair as well.

You probably need a good haircut and some layers so it falls easier -
You can easily layer w/o losing the length -
That, and a good leave in conditioner/detangler

ITA with this. I normally have zero knots but if I wear a turtleneck i get a lot of knots in the back at my hairline.

yes I agree its a 10 leave in is the best, I am a stylist and I use it on all my clients and my self it realy helps.
