Question...

Do you have to wait til after LO is born? I'm 23 weeks... Is it too early to look into this?

nope. you can call your ins company now and see if its covered.

some cover it automatically others rewuire the baby to be here and it a dr's note. you should call now and see how they work it. don't call edgepark directly I would call the ins co first. thats how I had an issue.

Just wanted to post that if you have Empire under NYSHIP it is NOT covered thru Edgepark and be careful they think it is and they ship it to you, then you get denied for it and they bill you for the full amount.

NYSHIP does not ever cover a breastpump even with a letter of medical necessity. Edgepark filed an appeal and I saw the letter it clearly states that NYSHIP does not cover breastpumps in any way

Hope this helps someone else

Definitely helpful, I had hope since someone posted not too long ago that they were getting one. Guess not, and sorry you went through that.

Not at all. The first step is to give your insurance company a call and see if it is covered. It took Edgepark about 3 weeks to get mine shipped (problem with my insurance co) and I ended up going into labor before receiving it so I wouldn't wait too long.

Just wanted to let you ladies know, my son is 2.5 months old and my breastpump quit and i just got a Freestyle via Edgepark for $39! My insurance said they didn't cover unless medically necessary but Edgepark did something right and it's covered 80% as soon as my deductible is met.

Re: PSA: Update on breastpump coverage by insurance!

i wanted to add that i got mine last week, a medela freestyle, i called edgepark first and they told me if they had any issues getting a rx from my doc or anything less than 100% ins coverage they would call me back....a few days later the pump arrived so i checked my insurance claim status online and it was covered 100%, i was nervous after receiving it so quickly but it seems to be legit...i'm so thankful to have heard about this, it saved me a lot of money!
