Bottles?

What type of bottles is everyone using? I'm torn between Avent and Dr. Browns. I don't have a dishwashers and I know Dr. Browns has more parts then the other.

Re: Bottles?

The more people I asked, the more people swore the loved the Dr. Browns.
Quite honestly - I think I feel better washing them by hand any way so that is why I am not worried about the extra parts.

Re: Bottles?

Im starting with the Advent bottles. I registered for, and got, a starter set of Advent bottles. You dont know what your baby is going to like so dont buy too many of one kind. Maybe get a couple of each and see what the baby likes better, then go with those.

I think with the plastic, it's OK as long as you don't HEAT in it- because then it really transfers...

yeah, my mother has me not microwaving anything in plastic anymore, i always transfer to paper or regular plates first.

what about putting the plastic bottles in warm water to heat?

Re: Bottles?

Im not a Avent fan at all. I tried them with my son and I could hear him taking in alot of air with them. I used Dr Browns with him and they were great but all those pieces were such a PITA after awhile. I tried Playtex Ventaires with my daughter and love them. They also have an extra piece or 2 to control the air flow but much simpler than the Dr Browns. I will be using them again this time.

I don't put my Dr. Brown's in the dishwasher. I just wash them by hand with soap and hot water. I have never had a problem.
I wouldn't stock up too much until you see what bottle your baby will take or what one works for them.

I have to say my daughter spit up horrible with these. Every baby is different though. Be prepared to try a few. I wouldn't wash and sterilize everything until you test one out.

I am concerned about this also but my daughter needs the Dr. Browns system. I think the big concern is heating in plastic though. I need to find little glass baby bowls for feeding her.

Re: Bottles?

I started with Platex and then switched to Dr Browns. I wash them by hand. I am afraid of putting them in the dishwasher and they get that cloudy film in them.

Re: Bottles?

We started with Avent and ended up switching to Dr. Brown's. Yes, they are a pain to handwash, if you're handwashing them, but IMO, they're totally worth the trouble. For baby #2, I'm starting right with Dr. Brown's.

Re: Bottles?

My sisters both had luck with Advent, so that is what I am going to try. See how the baby takes them and then switch if need be.
