I just want to applaud all the single moms out there!!!
I just want to  all the single moms out there. I cant imagine taking care of a child by myself. Taking care of 2 (with my DH) is the hardest thing I ever had to do.
So I commend all of the women (and dads) that do it all on their own.

Me too! DH works longs hours so I don't always have his help in the evenings. I know though, that when push comes to shove, he is still there and helps out when he can. I really could not imagine doing it on my own and give such props to you amazing women who do!

I was a single mom for 5 years...
I had a TREMENDOUS support group and an amazing family who were always willing to help and provided DS & I with so much love.
To be honest, because of this support, I didn't find it to be so difficult raising him on my own...

To be honest, because of this support, I didn't find it to be so difficult raising him on my own...
I was the same way with my first child being a single mom.
Now that i'm married with an infant and an 8 year old I find it a little hard to let go and let my DH help sometimes.

omg that was such a struggle for me... I wasn't used to *sharing* him and it was hard allowing DH to step in. Even now, I have guilty feelings when I ask DH for help. DH willingly helps on his own but when I have times where I ask him to pick DS up or something unpredictable, I feel BAD about it, and I know I shouldn't

ITA, when your just so used to being the only one there it's soo hard to let go and when you do, I just feel so guilty.

It's nice that so many have help from their family, I wish I did! My family lives in another state and my sister who does live here works f/t. I used to have a bit more help, but that's diminished greatly in recent months. It's a hard job doing everything alone, but I think it makes you stronger. to all those dealing on their own.

I was a single mother for ten years and I received very little help during that time. When I was going to grad school I had to hire a sitter to pick my kids up from the after school daycare program. Basically they went from one sitter to the next during that time :( I remarried last year and I have a really hard time asking my DH for help. He doesn't have any bio kids of his own and I feel like I shouldn't burden him so I still do 99% of the work.
Being a single mom was the worst thing that ever happened to me. It ruined me financially. The stress literally made me sick. I was absolutely miserable for many years.
I "made" it ----I have a great career and wonderful, well-adjusted children but it was at a tremendous personal cost. I wouldn't wish single parenthood on my worst enemy.

Yes, I applaud those single moms out there -- I couldn't imagine raising DD without her daddy by my side. Even if you have family to help, which I don't, it's not the same as a father....
