who often play the role of mother & father, support their children emotionally & often times financially, and go at it alone - while often biting their tongue so they don't correct the child's misconceptions about their "father"as they deal with yet another heartbreak from an uninvolved ex...

This is the first year in a long time that my ex remembered that he had a daughter on Father's Day...he's just so important .
Thankfully she has an awesome, amazing, stepfather who loves him as his own...

Great thought Barb!
My nephew hasn't seen his father since he was 3 - but he knew enough to stop child support as soon as Steve turned 18. My sister did it all and continues to be the sole parent to her son.
And you know what? The kid is smart, funny, sarcastic, responsible and kind hearted. And he has a lot of respect for women. Added bonus? At 23 he is an amazing and very hands on dad to his own son. He refuses to be what his father was.
I hope you wonderful ladies who do it all gave yourself a nice pat on the back yesterday!

That's exactly what made me think of it...my best friend who's ex-husband took off to NC & then moved to AZ.
He may see his daughter once a year...
My friend pays her mortgage, daycare & shoulders every responsibility. The fact that she hasn't bashed her ex-husband or has been able to never disparage him in front of her daughter for quitting his six figure job & getting a $10/hour job AMAZES me. He just got laid off from his job so won't be paying child support for awhile.
I send her Happy Father's Day wishes...and they were well-deserved.
