Does Your DC Grabs Your Hair

Ella is at the stage where she is starting to grab my hair, my glasses, and earrings. I know that she is starting to discover new things but sometimes it really hurts when she grabs my hair.

I really do not think there is much I can do about this because she is only 5 months old but most times I simply say to her no sweetie, you are hurting mommy. She will then laugh or continue to hold on to my hair.

Did you go through this phase with DC and how did you handle it? TIA!

Yes, he is three months and has been doing it since he was first able. I wear my hair up most of the time to avoid it, and I don't generally wear jewelry around the house.

OMG my Dd has been doing that since she was 3 months, loves hair, earrings and my husband's glasses, lol, she drives us crazy, but at this point there is nothing you can do, she is too little , just wait and she'll get over it or as she gets older it'll be easy to make her understand that it hurts, (or at least I hope so)Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Does Your DC Grabs Your Hair

I have long hair (mid way down my back) and DD loves to do my hair! meaning brush it and put clips in it! LOL it HURTS!

She also went through the hair/earring pulling phase and I did the same as you and thankfully it passed quickly! Just continue doing what you are doing, it'll pass! Chat Icon

Re: Does Your DC Grabs Your Hair

yes DS is almost 10 months old and still does this... i keep telling him thats not nice and it hurts mommy...but he doesnt get it. pulls on the earrings too...and when he's excited well start slobbering me, and bite my chin and giggle, I'm gonna take that as an I LOVE YOU Mama! since he only does that one to me.
i'm hoping the hair pulling stops soon...it really is painful.

Re: Does Your DC Grabs Your Hair

DS has been grabbing my hair since he was at least 2 months old, maybe sooner than that. I don't mind if he just touches it, but when he really yanks it, that's not good. I just take his hand away. Some days I pull it back, so then he can't do this.

Between his grabbing and just losing some hair pp, it seems I am always finding strands of my hair on him or inhis fists.

Ds is 16 months and still plays with my hair. He does it mostly when he's tired. He ***** his left thumb and plays with my hair with his right hand.

Thanks everyone. I guess it is quite normal. I will continue to tell her that it hurts and hopefully she will get out of this phase soon.

Re: Does Your DC Grabs Your Hair

Steven still graps my hair. I have very short hair and wear it spikey. He grabs it and spikes it for me. Or, sometimes he rubs it so that it is not spikey Chat Icon

Re: Does Your DC Grabs Your Hair

my hair was down to my waist . my daughter learn to pull it and with my hair falling out some from having a baby I had to cut it. I got tired of seeing my daughter having a hand full of hair in her little hands and then trying to put it in her mouth. Now I have a bob cut. i miss my hair but I love that its not going my be in my little girls hands anymore.

Re: Does Your DC Grabs Your Hair

YUP! She likes to curl it between her fingers when I'm nursing her. She yanks on it from time to time, so we're trying to learn NOT to do that Chat Icon that it hurts mommy!!

DS does this all of the time. He grabs my hair and pulls me towards his mouth so he can bit my nose.

At almost 3 weeks.... DD has a habit now of grabbing my necklace while I'm burping her.

I hope that it doesn't last.

Well, Jacob is 15 months and he still pulls hair and my earrings. I used to wear hoops but I changed to studs because he was ripping it of my ear Chat Icon His teacher at daycare also told me that he pulls the hair of the little girls in his class. He laughs while they cry Chat Icon Chat Icon
