Recommendations for a Dr. to do a SA?

We want DH to get a SA this month and I am looking for a recommendation for a urologist. Does anyone have anyone they loved. I have the Empire gov employee plan.
TIA.. This is my first post on IF. I hope I am not intruding with a stupid question.

Are you seeing an RE? IF so they can do the SA- my RE gave my DH and i a prescription and we went to stony brook hospital to have his SA done. HTH.

Nope not yet. We are starting our 8th month and had a m/c late sept/early oct.

Sorry I have been working at the computer all day and don't feel like retyping the whole story.

So anyway. I really HATE my gyn and plan on using a midwife when I get pg so I don't see the point in going to the gyn or finding a new one yet. They will just tell me it is too early. Mine is pretty nasty to me and said some horrid things during my long drawn out m/c and I just don't want to go to her ever again. So I was hoping to just send DH to a urologist. I guess I can just look up one in my insurance book and hope for the best.

Does anyone have a urologist they use or did everyone get the script from the RE? TIA

If you got PG once already, you probably dont have any MF issues, or at least not serious ones. That being said getting a SA is easy enough so even if its early if it will make you feel better I say go ahead.

Does your DH have a medical doctor, anyone can give him a rx for a semen analysis.

Really ??? The regular doctor will give him the script.
okay I will have him call his regular doctor. He is really nice and will help us if he can. I didn't even think of that.

I know that is hasn't been that long. It took me four months to get pg the first time and we are entering our fourth month since that. We tried every month since the M/c and I did ovualate the cylcle following the m/c. The doctor confirmed that. The only reason I think it could be MF problems even though we got PG once is because the month we got PG we were really busy and only got to BD twice duirng the whole fertile period. So I guess it could be that his reserves were all built up. So for our own piece of mind I would like to get a SA for him and then wait a long time before I start to worry about me. I don't think a doctor will even see me at the one year point because I had that one pregnancy. Which is fine with me. I just would like to know where we stand with DH's fertility.

ETA: we also haven't been using OPK's or anything yet so we are going to start trying them this month rather than the every other day from day 10 to 20 method. That way if DH does have a low sperm count we plan to Bd right after AF and then wait until the postive OPK and bd that night and the next night or two after that. Hopefully that is what works for us.

Actually there isn't a whole lot of support to the "build up" theory. We are dealing with severe MFI and our best counts were after only 24 hours of abstainance compared with times when we had abstained for 2-3 days (the worst counts were after abstaining for 4-5 days!!). I'm not trying to minimize your concern, but the fact that you were able to get pregnant on your own after only 4 months says that things look pretty normal. I know you are stressed out and frustrated and if a s/a will make you feel better then by all means go for it- it is easy enough!! Hopefully you'll see a BFP before then and won't need it

I'm so sorry for your loss.

My Dh saw Dr. Sheynkin (sp) in the Stony Brook area. I would call the office of a fertility urologist and find out if you even need a prescription/referral. They may just do it for you without all of that.

u can even have your gyno write u a prescription. when i 1st strated this wonderful journey he wrote my a prescip for my hubby to get his SA. that was 1st step. then me for ultrsound then hsg.
