Help!!! DS is climbing out of his crib, any recommendations?

my son is onloy 18 months, there is NO WAY he is ready for a toddler bed since he needs to be cnnfined or he will just be up ALL NIGHT. he climbs out of his bed and walks around the house in the middle of the night, anyone use those tents? I'm thinking maybe make his crib a toddler bed and then put a gate at his door to keeo him in his room when he climbs out of bed. Any suggestions? thanks ladies. my girls never did this to me

Caiden had to go into his big boy bed at 20 months. We just put a gate at his doorway. He never did anything he wasn't suppose to in his room. He was too distracted by the gate if he got up. We got him a twin race car bed off of craigslist. He loves it still and he's 3 now. The hardest part was putting away the crib.

My sister had that issue with BOTH her sons. One was in a bed with rails at 18 months, the other at 20 months after a fall....

I think the tent thing is a little much for a child that old no?

ETA- She was lucky with the gate/door issue in that the door to their rooms was a half open door, so she could lock the bottom part and they couldnt get out...about the same as a gate would do.

My friend has done that, put her daughter in a big girls bed and put a gate at her door. It has worked really well for them, and Lydia was about the same age...18 months!

I know my cousin had this problem. She bought a mesh tent from One Step Ahead and it wouldn't allow her son to climb out.

Our son is 21 months and he slept in his toddler fire engine bed for the first time last night. We put a gate a the door.

Gianna started at 15 months and we got her the crib tent...let me tell you this thing is god sent I put her into the crib zip up the tent and no worries

I'm worried about this happening with my DS, because he's such a little monkey. He climbs on EVERYTHING. I don't know what we're going to do if it happens.

If he is crawling out of his crib he may be ready for a toddler bed. And than I would put the gate up in his doorway so he can't walk around the house.
