Dumb question re: what's OK to eat
I've been chewing as ton of peppermint gum for the morning sickness. Is this OK? When I was PG with DD I never touched gum - I was worried about all the artifical flavorings.
Also - I've been drinking 1 root beer a day - it seems to help. Is this OK? (other than the caffeine)

My doctor told me 1 cup of coffee -or- 3 cups of soda a day. A 12oz can of root beer is about a cup and a hlf, so you're fine.
I stay away from artificial sweeteners, although I've heard they are safe.

if root beer helps, def drink it one soda a day is not going to harm the baby
as for gum, i have been trying to chew gum that is not sugarless, but i have chewed it before and dont think its a big deal, theri is a lot conflicting stories about the artifical sweetners, i would def stay away from putting that stuff on my cofee or other treats, but i dont think the gum is a big deal, thats my poinion anyway

The kind that comes in the glass bottle, i forgot the name is caffeine free too.

Root Beer is one of those sodas that can have caffiene or may not have any.
Just like Orange Soda.
You just have to check the labels.

Hmm, the A&W cream soda in my fridge has caffeine :) , I could have sworn it does! I loveee root beer and i stayed away from it while pg with DD especially a&W.
Hmmmm, so weird! You are right the cream soda does, but not the root beer, how weird!

I eat a fair amount of fake sugar because I was diagnosed with hypogylcemia when I was 15 and they make practically everything sugar free now. I will try to cut down but I dont honestly think I will cut it all out.

the peppermint gum is fine. I chew it every day for the acid reflux and i did it when i had nausea too.

I drank one can of coke EVERY morning that I was PG and sometimes another when I was craving it. My DD is just fine...
My doc was all about moderation...which is why I love him.
