So its offical....
We decided to take our home off the market.
I have been posting on here for about 2yrs. We have had our home on the market since March 2011. Its been a long year and a half. Ups and downs. We dropped our price significantly since we originally listed. We bought at the height of the market.
We thought we had a solid deal after we relisted with this new agent 3 months ago. But deal fell thru. We have decided to wait the market out at this point. We were prepared to take a loss but its gotten out of control.
TBH, we still live in a nice area, we have a nice house, all redone, and bottom line is we could still be happy here short term.
Do I think this is our forever home....no, but it wasnt in the cards now. We tried everything but I am in a firm believer in what is meant to be will be, and this wasnt meant to be. We were only 3 months into this listing (put of the 6) but DH and I came to the decision we no longer want to sell. So as of today we withdrew it from MLS. So we will stay, and in a few years look to list again with the hopes that the will be some recovery in the market. Obviously never to what is was, but lets at least hope better than what it is now.
So we move forward. To be honest, looking forward to setting up my yard now, getting ready for the summer and just LIVING in my house and not tip toeing around it as if it is a museum!

Re: So its offical....
I know it was a tough decision for you, but I think it's the right one. You may feel differently, even after a few months, but if you are miserable and frustrated and don't NEED to sell right now, then I think it makes sense to take a break and enjoy living in your home for awhile and shifting the focus to other things.
It's very stressful to have your home on the market and always have to be ready for strangers to come walking through. It can easily become all-consuming. Taking some time off from that may change your whole outlook on the process when you decide to delve back in!

My heart goes out to you. Selling/Buying in this market has been the hardest thing ever. It was so frustrating & draining. I'm sooooo done with it.

Its terrible! I literally had it. I guess DH and feel lik we didnt give up, it just didnt make sense anymore. We had a bottom line and we were willing to go even beyond that, BUT we still have a LINE.
Thank god we still like where we live and could ddeal with it in the meantime.
Plus it helps that Rates dropped just as we hit our breaking point. It was like God was giving us a sign!

Good for you. The process is just miserable and it really takes a toll!!
Enjoy the summer and enjoy the relief you must feel by not having it hanging over your head!

I really feel for you. My house has only been on the market a month and we too have lowered the price. We also bought at the height of the market so we were planning on bringing cash to the closing assuming our lowest number. MY DH and I are already contemplating taking it off the market for a few years if it doesn't go this summer.... And I can hear you breathing a breath of sweet relief. I know how it feels that you can't even relax in your own house anymore.

Eaxctly!!! We were doing the same! Coming to the closing table with money. Its crazy. We did this for a long time. And the worst part is our feedback was never anything negative. Which didnt make sense to us anymore. No one was giving us a REAL signficant reason why they didnt like the house. So I think it has to be the market/ price (and we are LOW).
Hang in there! it is frustrating!!!
