Oh No you Didn't Peapod Driver!!!! UPDATED with their response...
So, I just got my 4th delivery this morning. So far I have been very happy.
This order was not big. The driver carried everything up to the door in 1 trip and there were about 6 or 7 bags. It's about 15 feet to my front door.
So as he's leaving I give him a $2 tip. He counts it in front me and proceeds to tell me it has been a bad tip day for him  and he had to drive 50 minutes to get to my house.
Hello- are you kidding me? 
#1 - maybe you should tell Peapod to charge less than $9.95 as a delivery charge and maybe you would get more
#2 - it was a small delivery. When it's a bigger one I usually give $5
#3 - I don't care how long it took you to get to my house. That's not my problem or concern.
How rude!!!
I emailed Peapod to complain.

I had a guy tell me once that I couldn't put the tip on credit card one time. Which is total BS I've done it in the past. He made me write a check!

As far as I know, they aren't allowed to ACCEPT tips, but they all do!!

The guy sounds off!!! I can't imagine somebody doing that. It's so unprofessional and I would imagine PeaPod won't be very happy about it.
Do you have the driver's name? I can't recall if it's written on the slip or not (I'm paperless, so I don't even get slips anymore.)

That happened to me once. I ordered $12.50 of sushi - $12.50! - and the delivery guy looked at the tip of $1.50 and said, "That's it?"
Never ordered from that place again.

This is what I heard too, but, I tip anyway. I only use Peapod for really big orders! Right before Christmas, I didn't expect 2 drivers to knock on the door (maybe one was in training)..I rolled up the cash and said "This is for you both"..I had no other cash laying around.
They thanked me and left!
Your driver was definitley rude and I'm glad you complained!

How do you leave the tip on your cc? Is this the same way as the direct check method? This would help me out a ton b/c I'm always scrabbling for a few bucks to give the driver. 
I have never had any problems with the drivers - they have always been polite.

Wow-every driver I have ever gotten has been very appreciative of their tips. That is RUDE! I would have e-mailed them also

Tips included on the CC are recorded as income and needs to be reported as income. For those that choose to treat tips in cash as tax free income, of course they don't want you to put it on the CC transaction! Paper trail...

I always thought they were allowed to take tips. One driver once told my mom, that it is noted in the account if the person tips or not.

That's rude! I am curious to see how they respond. According to their website, tipping is optional. Appreciated but not required.
I always tip in cash and plan for it. No way would I write a check. And I wouldn't even know how to add the tip to the credit card payment since the charge is processed at the store when the order is complete and not at delivery.

I hate that in this day and age, people have conveniently forgotten that a tip is OPTIONAL. It's for GOOD SERVICE. Beyatching about how much you made that day is NOT good service and doesn't make anyone in their right mind want to reach into their pockets any deeper.
