How much should we tip the cab driver?
DH and I almost never take cabs, but we are taking one to JFK at 2:40am Saturday morning. The fare is $23. What is an appropriate tip for the cab driver?

five dollars. But, if he helps with your luggage , it wouldn't hurt to throw in two more dollars.

do you live on long island?
im asking casuse we live in lynbrook and we took a cab home from our honeymoon from JFK and the meter read $17.00 - and the driver said ok that will be $34.00 - and we were like what? and he said airport fares double if they have to cross a county line...
so we gave him 40
good to know in advance if it applies to you guys

i just did the math...............
20% of $23 would mean you shoudl give him about $28
so, $5 is fine.
i would just give more (if he is good) b/c i am a good tipper
