WWYD - would you take a full-size double stroller to Disney?

I LOVE my stroller. LOVE LOVE LOVE it Chat Icon It's the Bumbleride Indie Twin - my kids are so comfy, it steers amazingly well, has a good storage compartment underneath... it's wonderful.

BUT

I don't know if I should really schlep it all the way for our Disney trip.

.I will have to check it in at the airport (no charge but no gate check b/c it's a full-size).

.We're using Disney transportation (buses and boats - staying at Wilderness Lodge) so we'll need to collapse each time (prob not a big deal, but worth mentioning).

It's just SO wonderful, I'm afraid I'll b*tch the whole time if I'm using either a rental stroller or some cobbled-together solution Chat Icon yet to a degree it seems semi-ridiculous.

WWYD??

ETA: My kids both still nap (though we would try to get them to sleep in the room every day, but it's possible - esp at night - they will fall asleep in the stroller).

I'm not sure if this will help at all, but we went to Disney and stayed off site. We took our City Mini (full size even though it's a "lightweight"). We were able to gate check it which was a big plus.

I LOVED having our regular stroller at the parks. Nothing like baby reclining if he suddenly needed a nap etc. We took the monorail and the boat over to Magic Kingdom and didn't need to fold the stroller ever. We drove to the parks and just plopped the stroller in the trunk (and I was injured at the time so I had a rental scooter too). It worked out great in our situation and would definitely take our own stroller again in the future. Especially when we go with both kids.

IMO bring it. We did and it was not an issue at all. Double rental there is $30 a day. It's worse to regret NOT bringing it than it is to wish you never brought it..bc you could always leave it at the hotel room if you don't feel like lugging it that day. KWIM?

If you get the larger of the two boats that go out of WL (to the Contemporary to MK) you won't even need to fold up the stroller to board.

We're going this summer - I have the regular Bumbleride Indie and my sister has the twin and we both feel the same way. I'm hesitant to take it because my sister's friend just had her stroller STOLEN while in Disney World. I would flip!

You can always rent a stroller from an outside vendor. They offer insurance as well and its not so pricey.

Id say bring it with you. If you are comfortable with the open/close then you're fine. Them being comfy is so worth it!

And like PP said, worst case scenario you leave it at the room.

Re: WWYD - would you take a full-size double stroller to Disney?

I know I posted something similar before we went to Disney. I think either way it will probably be fine. I ended up taking 2 singles, my double is a BOB and I was also a bit worried about it being damaged on the flight. For us the 2 singles worked out fine, we ended up leaving my older sons stroller in stroller parking a lot as he wanted to walk most of the time, but it came in handy as he got tired. It was a pain getting on the bus with the 2 strollers, but I think the double would have been harder. Perhaps someone else can speak on this since I am not sure, but on the bus to the parks we had to keep our strollers with us, they didn't go under the bus.

We went to Disney when my kids were 2.5 and 4 and we brought two cheapo BRU umbrella strollers. Perfect! Great for the airport/plane. We stayed at Wilderness also and it was so simple to get on and off the boat and the buses. My girls also didn't nap in their strollers, so that was a non-issue.

ETA...I have an Indie too for the little guy and we're planning on another Disney trip in November. I love my Indie so much I'd be worred about trashing it there--I'll probably bring something else...

This is why I want to get one of those small retractable stroller locks. Perfect for when you stroller park it outside of the rides!

Take it! We brought the joovy big caboose (triple sit and stand). It's hard to naviagte when its crowded, whether you have a small or large stroller. At least with the large on you can bring everyone sweatshirts, snacks, drinks, etc.

Re: WWYD - would you take a full-size double stroller to Disney?

If I had to do it over, I think I might have rented one once I got there - that would have been delivered to the hotel. If I needed one for the airport, I would have used a cheap umbrella stroller.

Either the airline or the bus driver sort of broke our stroller and I didn't realize how bad it was until after we came home - I think it got worse as we used it after the trip. The only reason I didn't flip out at the airline is that DS is pretty much grown out of it and I wasn't going to use it much longer anyway.

Re: WWYD - would you take a full-size double stroller to Disney?

We had/have both the bumbleride indie twin and the city mini double - we choose to take the city mini instead. It was much easier to fold to get onto the buses (we were at the poly so we could roll onto the monorail for EPCOT and MK- but had to bus elsewhere). I didn't want to bring the indie twin because I feared it would get broken or stolen. Just remember although it has a nice basket don't over fill it - we made that mistake one night when we went to EPCOT - we packed the basket and the pockets of the city mini rather than carrying as much. Well the monorail got hit by lightening and everyone was forced to take buses b/c they closed the monorail for the night.

Have you considered renting a city mini down there? It is easy to fold, and you wouldn't have to worry about yours being stolen or broken. I love the indie twin but it doesn't fold that small and there is nothing like getting onto a completely full bus with 2 tiny children, bags, and your double stroller. The city mini actually has better sun shades as well.

I brought our Bumbleride to Disney, but not a twin. It was great for the baby, but a little tough to fold up for the bus rides.

Re: WWYD - would you take a full-size double stroller to Disney?

Thanks so much for all of the advice and opinions!!

I know many people are happy with the City Mini double and I can *deal* for a week Chat Icon so I think we may rent when we get there and say screw the 90 bucks. It would suck if something happened to the double since I have another DC on the way - we're no where near done with it.

Thanks all Chat Icon Chat Icon

I have another question. If you take a full size double, how does it go through security? On the belt? I have a city select, with 2 seats. Dh wants to bring it, and I think it's too big. I asked a friends to borrow her side by side, or I could rent one. Thoughts?

We just went to disney with our city mini double. It went through security no problems. Someone takes it, and swabs it all over and then you get it back. It takes maybe 3 minutes. No big deal in both JFK and Orlando.

We checked it at the gate and because it was larger Jetblue carried it on instead of throwing it down the ramp. Received it back in perfect condition both times. Being how much walking is involved at the airports, especially at Orlando, I was happy to have taken it.
