Did anyone use olive oil to brown the beef and cook the onions? I used a little bit, maybe a TBSP, I hope that doesnt increase the # of points.

FYI- I put this into e-tools and it is 2 points per cup, not one.

I will have to ask my leader about it . . . . She works for WW aside from leading meetings and she hands the recipe out annually . . . .

The only thing I can think of is the HV Ranch dressing - Mix... The recipe builder has it as "prepared by mix", but it's not prepared...it's just the mix itself.
Unless you have the "specifics" it's really hard to tell.

But...I did see a "debate" on this recipe on the WW boards.

I didn't plug it in as prepared. I used a different brand ranch mix.
It also only makes 15 servings which is 3 points per serving. I followed the recipe exactly and measured it out by cups into a tupperware. I just redid it without the ranch mix and it did make a difference, lowered it to 2 points. I'm sure no one will gain over chili so it's not the end of the world. I am just trying to be as exact as possible with my points and since I've got the etools I have been using the recipe builder for what I cook.

Oh I agree completely. I'm going to have to try it.
Did it change the taste at all without the ranch mix?

I remember a while back doing the chili in the getting started book or one of the books and it was excellent! I believe that one was 1pt, but that was using meatless meat. It tasted just as good...excellent actually.

I'm definitely looking forward to making this one. Maybe I'll get it ready tonight!Chat Icon

It tastes even better the next day. I made some for my parents and sisters and they loved it!

Even if it's 2 points/cup, that's still not bad at all..I brought 2cups of it again for lunch today.

ETA: and it's VERY filling!!

I am so glad to see everyone enjoying it!

As for turkey, you just have to be careful to use the leanest turkey meat or turkey that has the same fat and calories as the 93% lean beef. Some turkey meats are higher in fat and calories and might add to the points, so just be careful what you use.
