Yeah, if he wanted one I wouldn't have a problem with that. Especially if his mom and sister are getting them. I just wouldn't allow polish

I feel the same way! I never actually thought to get my son a manicure or pedicure .. but I don't see any problem with it. I probably wouldn't paint his nails pink or red.. but a nice clip and buff? Why not?

I don't have a son - but if I did - I wouldn't allow him to get manicures at 6 years old......or never for that matter. I don't see the purpose in it at all.

Its just me - my opinion

I personally would not and I am usually not a big follower of what is gender specific etc.

Re: Would you let your 6 year old SON get a manicure??

Absolutely. Why not?
Once, my mom was in the nail salon getting a pedicure, and in walked a man in a business suit, dressed to the nines. He sat in the chair next to her and proceeded to get ready for his own pedicure. Now, my mom openly admits that she was a little shocked by this and was thinking WTH? She noticed that the people in the place knew him well and asked him, "Oh, here for your weekly ritual?" As he went about his conversation with the woman doing his pedicure, my mom just kept thinking how weird it was. Then they pulled out the nail polish and started to paint a nail red. Then, they were done. Just one nail. My mom kept thinking, weirdo! He must have noticed her looking at him and explained that every week, he would come in and have a pedicure and get one nail painted in memory of his niece who died of leukemia. I forget the whole story, but his entire family vowed to do it each week and use that time to think about the little girl so that no one would forget her. There was significance to the one nail and the paint that I don't remember, but my mom decided to not judge anymore because she felt awful once she knew.
Since then, my dad has gotten quite a few manicures just to keep his hands looking neat and clean.

I would absolutely allow my son to get a manicure. No problem with that at all. And my DH wouldn't have any problem with it, either.

Re: Would you let your 6 year old SON get a manicure??

absolutely not. Its so stupid, I know, but I totally play into the gender roles thing. It bothers me when DS plays with my makeup brushes while Im getting ready.

I absolutely agree - but at 6 years old - I won't make that decision for him - when he is old enough and wants to have one on his own then I will leave it up to him.

Besides that - My DH would never favor it either. I guess we were never raised with young boys getting manicures before... ..its just not my thing for me to have my child do.

Would I let him...I think so...would I want him to have it...no. But I wouldn't take him with me...that's my time Chat Icon I understand that it's easier said than done to get things done and you can't always go on your own so I am fortunate that I get that time.
