Working moms and pumping while at work
I am starting a new job on Monday. I am calling them tomorrow to ask the HR manager a couple of things and want to discuss with her about pumping while at work. I will be pumping during lunch at my parents house. But I want to pump while at work so my supply will not decrease. By law, do they have to allow me to pump if I ask or is this a courtesy that companies provide to moms? I would love to pump twice while at work but would that be too much to ask especially since I just started the job?

The have to provide you with space and time..but it can be unpaid time.

By law they have to let you and it is not too much to ask for. I pump three times at work. Right when I get in since I commute, then at lunch and at 4 pm. Hr and everyone in my office has been great about it and only one other person has a kid. You will be suprised at how understanding people are! It's hard enough to be away from the baby all day.

NY law states they have to let you pump (it differs by state) but it may be unpaid time.
I pump 2x a day about 15 minutes each time so i usually only take a half an hour now for lunch instead of an hour.

I pump 2x/day at work... but just needed to add an extra pumping session (started today) so I come into work 15 minutes earlier
