Who's DC has had their tonsils and adenoids out?

After a 2 1/2 hr ENT visit yesterday I scheduled TJ to have his tonsils and adenoids removed (actually in his case they are going to shave down his tonsils. The new school of thought is only to remove them completely if strep infection is factor). He is also going to clip his tongue-tie...although it doesnt interfere with his speech necessarily he said he is going to laser and cortorize it while he's there.

His surgery is schedule for 3/22. He said being they will only be shaved down it is much less blood and a much easier recovery, but of course I am still nervous. This will be his 2nd time under anesthesia so I am not super nervous about that because he woke up fairly easily last time with the exception of being groggy.

So, what did your DC eat after the surgery? Or did they live on milkshakes? How long until they were back to them old sevles?

My son just had this done 2 weeks ago....he had them shaved as well...right after surgery, he was very clingy, and crying...didn't know where he was and stuff...

we had to stay over in the hospital because he had sleep apnea, and by the time we got a room, he was fine....he loved eating ices (which they didn't readily give, which kind of irritated me) and also drank a milk shake....

for the next 3 days, he was really good...he ate ice pops and spagettios, and mac and cheese...

then day 4, he was in sooo much pain...and that continued for a little less than a week...I felt sooooo bad for him...the ped said it might of been from the healing and scaring
