Wow, that's interesting.
My mom sat in on a speech by George Stephanopolous (sp?) at Hofstra recently. He said that he was told by a "very reliable source" that McCain really wanted Liberman but the party said no since it would turn off too many of their base. Maybe the same thing happened to Obama too?
This is what I heard too.

By "blossomed" do you mean had a TON of plastic surgery?  
i actually don't think she's had surgery
a good hair stylist, makeup artist, and eyebrow wacker (in her case, she NEEDED to be wacked ) does wonders!!!!

This is what I heard too.
I would not be surprised. I think the idea of voting for a black man AND a woman on the same ticket might have been too much- I think, sadly, that many people are not ready for THAT much progress (Even though I am in the camp that would have liked an Obama-Clinton ticket.)
Leiberman would have been a better choice for McCain, IMO. Choosing someone who was a a Democrat till recently would have really driven home the idea that he does not want the "same old" in Washington. Leiberman is also much more qualified, IMO.

now obviously it is JUST a rumor, but wow.

when DH first told me about this I thought he was insane glad to hear others have heard this too.
ok, here's my opinion on it.
if it's true, Obama's credibility will be ruined. he should have picked Hillary to begin with since she got 18 million votes and the race was so close until the very end. the election would have been a slam dunk for the Dems - guaranteed!
if Biden backs out for any reason - even if it's seemingly legit, it will be perceived as a desperate move by Obama and he will be called everything from indecisive and a flip flopper to having poor judgment. and it WILL hurt him on 11/4.
speaking of Election Day, early elections have already started in some states, yesterday - with Biden on the ticket. again, I don't think this would be a positive thing for Obama.

ah yes, rumors.....
well, my gut instinct (mind you, not based on any external info) is that this rumor began somewhere in a GOP circle.
I say this becuase the current mindset of the GOP is suddenly 'pro-woman' and there is this speculation that has been re-iterated in the media that following Palins nomination, Obama 'regrets' not nominating Clinton.
Also, I think there may be a bit of wishful thinking involved since Biden is a very good debater and has decades of experience.... and Biden vs. Palin could be a bit  I suspect Biden's performance at the debates will be as solid as Cheney's (if you recall 4 years ago). I dislike Cheney intensely, but gotta say, he's very smart and was a formidable debater.
just my suspicions......

I don't think it CAN happen. I believe the purpose of the convention is to nominate both candidates. To change the ballot would require calling another DNC, which won't happen.

These kinds of rumors come up around election time - I remember the one when Cheney was supposed to step down due to health reasons and someone else (might have been Jeb Bush, but I dont remember) was going to be VP for the last 2 years and then run for pres.
This wont happen.

desperate measures by the GOP, and resorting to spreading rumors to make people think that Obama/Biden ticket is not as sound as it really is
