Which party would you go to?

We were invited to two parties on 5/4, additional information to take into consideration, we have our kids that week (will be 11&12), I am having my son's 12th bday earlier that day and we live on SI.

Party 1: My SO's friend's daughter's communion(wedding) from 6:30 to 10:30 at a hall in Brooklyn, the kids are invited. This is a casual friend from when they were younger, but we do see them often as he does run a restaurant we frequent.

Party 2: A Board and Brush birthday party for one of our friends whose gf is hosting from 6-9. It is about 10 minutes from us. Our kids are not invited, but since it is earlier and right by, I have no issue leaving them alone. These girls play on our softball team and we see them every weekend.

I'm just curious as to which party you'd attend. Because we don't know what to doChat Icon

I would pick 1 because communions are important. You can make a craft anytime.

Either way Communion is extremely important to those of us that believe.

I think she meant it's a big blow out affair- like a wedding- at a hall, with a DJ etc

Not like a small little luncheon after the church like i did for my DD

What time does your son's party end? Doing a bday party and then going to a communion in Brooklyn sounds exhausting!

If these are people you only see when you go to their restaurant (don't socialize regularly), I would go to #2.

A gala. I love it.
Does she have a bridal party? Limos?
Will they ever set foot in church again after the "gala"?

Re: Which party would you go to?

I say 1. Even though I love a night out without the kids once in a while those board and brush parties are pretty casual where the communion is bigger and kind of important. Especially important enough for you all to be invited to.

Plus I'm not always a fan of those paint parties. Gotta pay too much attention when I just want to enjoy a night out with friends and drink. LOL

This. You already have a full day. To then have to get dressed up and schlep to Brooklyn - unless it was someone super close, I wouldn’t go.

Re: Which party would you go to?

There is no way I could host my own kids birthday party and then go to another party right after. So I would send a generous gift to the communion. Would you even have time to change into formal attire? That sounds like too much rushing around. I have attended 3 back to back parties in one day when I was not hosting. If you feel up to it, then yes, I would go out in the evening to the other party closer to you.
