I gave birth at north shore with my daugter That was the best hospital experience i ever had The docs and the nurses were all extremly nice and the did there job very very well The hospital was also very clean ,Oh and the food was pretty good oh on your last nigh they give you a special dinner with a lil bottle of"champagne" but i never saw a desert cart  oh well googd luck to you

i gave birth at LIJ also. i loved it.
I am not prego or officially TTC yet but my doctor is at LIJ too. He told us that G-d forbid our children have immediate medical needs, it is comforting to know that Schneider's is right there. I felt good about that type of security.
As far as Lenox hill goes, I believe it is a private hospital and many wealthy and famous NYers have had children there. i had a procedure there (non maternity) and the nursing staff was top notch.

I will be giving birth at StonyBrook. Im very happy because you get your own room, and they have a GREAT Neo-Natal care in case my Twins need it.

My sister had all 4 of her children at Lenox HIll.
They have a top notch reputation, and she refused to change hospitals, even though there are several much closer to her. (shes in Queens).

I gave birth at NSUH Manhasset and was happy there...and they did have a dessert cart late in the evening in the lobby but I never went to it. I visited friends and family at several other hospitals when they had their babies and my room seemed to be the biggest one but I had the farthest walk to the nursery...that didnt bother me at all since I wanted to walk around.

My dr. delivers at either Mercy or South Nassau..I prefer South Nassau because they have huge private suites you can get as your room!

I had two of my sons at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola and loved it. Can recommend two excellent OB/GYN practices right there too if interested. I also know of a great OB in Bayridge if your interested, I believe he delivers in St. Vincents in Staten Island. Winthrop is my favorite though, excellent experience and anyone I know who's delivered there has had the same response.
