I'm so sorry, I have a lump in my throat just reading this. I think unless you have a pet you truly don't understand how hard it is to experience a loss. I regard mine as my first two kids because in some way I think they taught me something about being a mommy. Plus you have another special connecton to yours. In the end he will be in a better place and I hope that as time goes on it starts to hurt less and less. I'm sorry.

Losing a pet is just as hearbreaking as losing a human being. They become everything to us..and in your case, even more. They hold special meaning in our lives that will never be forgotten. But you are doing the right thing. You are loving him the way he deserves. You are giving him peace and not allowing him to suffer just to have him close to you. You are doing the best by him, just as he has done by you all these years.
There are no words to ease the pain, and unless you are a fellow animal parent, you can never truly understand. Allow yourself time to grieve without feeling guilty and in time, as the days pass, it will get a little easier. But, you will never forget your "furry son" who you became a mother to first.
Your in my thoughts and prayers!

I am so sorry you are going through this. I remember how traumatic it was for me when I lost my cat. It was 5 weeks before my wedding and I seriously considered postponing my wedding.
At least now you have Tyler to cheer you up.
