When do you put on heat
I am curious when everyone put heat on in the house. It seems so cold in the house this year already

No set date but I def try to push it as long as possible to save oil.

Since we have DS this winter (last year he was just a newborn so he was swaddled very warmly) I think we will wait till it gets to the 60s or so - we like it cool but I want to make sure DS is warm.

probably early November, but it depends on the year.... I remember a several years back we had a warm fall & I made it to Thanksgiving without heat... but I don't think that'll be happening this year.

Us too. I remember being impressed we made it until Thanksgiving a few years back.
Honestly, it's just starting to be comfortably cool in our house...I've been enjoying it.

but the heat turned on without wanting it to a few time in the early morning, so I turned it down a bit more. Not ready to use the oil

When we feel cold we turn on our pellet stove. We don't use traditional oil heat. .thank God.

We were joking today that we would wait until it hit 40*. It's 66 right now and very comfy for both of us. We know we'll have to keep it warmer once baby boy arrives.

You can turn the whole system off so it won't turn on at all until you are ready.

We'll turn it on when thermostat says 60. Before that, we are usually comfy under the covers. We're also trying to wait it out until the boiler inspection is completed on Nov 10th.
