When did you get your first sonogram/ultrasound?

Hi all. I am almost 12 weeks and my doctor won't do the sonogram until I am 16 weeks. Is this normal? All of my friends had theirs on their first or second appointment. I am in the progress of looking for another doctor. My husband and I just got to hear the heartbeat last week.

I had a sonogram at 5w5d because I was bleeding and then again at 10 weeks and 12 weeks (which was the ultrascreen). That is a little bit strange that your doctor wants to wait until 16 weeks

I had my first right before 9 weeks. I will have another at 12 weeks.

My first was at 6w3d due to a previous miscarriage.

that does seem like a long time. I am going when I am 7 weeks

I had one at 6.5 weeks but that was with a specialist. My first sono with my regular obgyn was at 9 weeks.
12 weeks is the Ultrascreen... if you want to do that test there are only certain weeks to do it. Make sure you tell your dr!

I had a sono at 6 weeks due to bleeding.....if i hadn't had any bleeding, my first sono would have been at 12 weeks for the ultrascreen

I had my first sono at 7w2d. It does sound odd to me that your MD won't do one earlier than 16 wks. Did you want an ultrascreen? That has to be done between 10-13wks. Good luck!

My first sono was at 6 weeks cuz I was going to a specialist.
My next sono probably won't be until 12 weeks at the ultrascreen.

My dr did my 1st sono at 6 1/2 weeks to see if they could see a heartbeat, then I had another at 12 weeks for the ultrascreen.

7 Weeks was our first.

I am 9 weeks and so far I had 3 already. I was cramping when I first found out and I was only 17 days but due to my very long period cycle they thought I was further than i was. But they did tell me that they wouldn't even have seen me until I was between 8 and 10 weeks

6 weeks, just to make sure it was in the right place. 8 weeks to see the heart beat. and 12 for the ultra screen, i will get more at the amnio in a few days. If you are going for an ultrascreen you can pics from the tech then too.

I was 7 weeks at my first sonogram. I have my second sonogram next week at 12 weeks.

So far, I had one at 8 weeks, the ultrascreen at 12 weeks (had to do it twice ) and one at 19.5 weeks (the level II).

My doc does the 1st sono around 7 weeks, as long as there are no problems.

I was supposed to have my first at 9 weeks, but my doc got called out to L & D....

So I wound up having my first when I was 10 wks and 1 day....

My first was at 8wks...then another at 12wks. My next scheduled one is at 20wks...but I'm going in for one tomorrow at 15wks due to some spotting.

My first Dr.'s office was not going to do it at 8weeks but then I switched offices and they did do it that early. I guess since it is so small some offices will not do it, I don't see what the big deal is. I would ask him personally maybe he will...good luck!

My first one was at 8 weeks. I then had my ultrascreen (sono) at 12 weeks.
