What to do? Still waiting on RSVPs for DD's 1st birthday and I need to submit names for favors....
Ugh! You know how you can always count on those last few people to drag out the RSVPs as long as possible? Well, I need to submit names for favors to Joenick by next week and I'm still waiting on RSVPs from several families.
Do I contact them and ask them if they are coming, or should I just count them out and if they do show up their kids don't get favors? I feel bad doing that, but at the same time I almost want to "teach" them what happens if they don't RSVP. The party is still 2 weeks away and I didn't have room to put a "RSVP by" date on the invite....

I have been giving Val names all along.
I am still waiting on about 10.
DO you have definates that you know are def. coming? If so, give those to her so she can start on them (and you better not interfere with Jack's favors   )
When are you planning on picking up the favors? I would call them about 8 days before that - if they don't get back to you -- tough luck - no favor for their kid!

I am not sure - I think because you didn't put an RSVP by on it - then they might think they don't have to RSVP at all. And honestly, I know if it were me, and they showed up and I didn't have favors for their children, I would feel more than embarassed.
How long ago did you send out the invites?

i gave Val names up until 2 weeks before. the people that didnt respond didnt get pails..easy & done

Just saw the line in your post about the RSVP. Give them a call to check only because they might think that they don't have to RSVP so it's not their fault for no answer...kwim? Val was great when we were working on Lucas' party and had some late responses so I am sure she'll work with you on it.

To answer the questions.....
I've been sending names to Val all along....but I am in NJ and requested that she send the favors to me in the mail and that I get them a week before the party (I am getting the buckets made and will still need to fill them and put ribbon on them, etc).
I sent out the invitations a long time ago...like probably too far in advance...about 6 weeks before the party. And there was an RSVP line where I put my phone number and email, just no place for an "RSVP by date".

If you didn't put an RSVP by ...then they probably don't know they need to RSVP (I wouldn't).
Call or email them. I did already for Ale's party and the RSVP date isn't until tomorrow.

I will be submitting some of the names to Val this weekend and then give her the rest when I get them.
Ella party will be on August 31 but I want to get an early start on things.

I cant imagaine not having a favor for one of the kids at ds party..its not their fault their parents are losers.....maybe just have a few extras for those people but not have them personalized...kwim

This is exactly the problem with getting personalized favors - and I am dreading dealing with this in two weeks.
I say call them up and ask if they are coming. I think since you put your email and phone number people know to respond - I would -- but who knows what other people think?!

I would call people. I TOTALLY understand being frustrated about people not reponding, but in the end it will be a kid who doesn't get a favor. Since they are not the ones responsible for responding I personally wouldn't want to not have a favor for a kid at the party.
Maybe get a pail or 2 with no name on it but filled and wrapped up just in case?

Thats what I think as well.
But for the people that haven't responded - are you close enough to them that you can call and say, I wasn't sure if you were coming or not - so I wanted to call and ask?
I don't think people will think it is a big deal at all to call. this is the time of year everyone has a milliion things going on and lose track sometimes.

Since you didn't put an RSVP date, I would call those who haven't responded. And if you still don't know all the names in time, I would get one done for them anyway, just in case. It's not fair to the child not to get a favor if their parents couldn't RSVP.

That is kind of a tough call. Since you didn't put a RSVP date on there - you can't expect people to call you by a certain time (it is polite and the right thing to do for them to call early - but honestly there will always be inconsiderate people out there who won't and without a RSVP date it is kind of hard to know if and when they will call). I would still have RSVP'd but a lot of people wouldn't have without a date on there.
Since you said you need them shipped - I wouldn't call the families - why don't you just order enough favors for those who might come and then don't have the unknowns personalized. Otherwise I would have suggested calling a week before and just saying you need to know for the favors - but honestly that is a bit awkward. I would make sure thought that all the kids have favors - it isn't right to penalize the kids for their parents faults KWIM?

I just went through the same thing with DS's christening...so ANNOYING! I wanted to just count them out so bad and "teach them a lesson" but I wound up calling them - and they were ALL coming! OK thanks for letting me know.....
