That kind of stuff is so popular right now - especially on those Farmhouse groups. I would just donate it. Hell I love that stuff - I'll take it off your hands. Flip it around so your name doesn't show or slap some ribbon on it - whatever. LOL
Why keep something that will upset you. Get it out of the house. If they question it, just tell them I appreciate the gift but I had no use for it. End of story. You're going to continue to get gifts like that if they see you use it - even if it is just for when they come over.
oh yes, I am sure it is popular. She loves Joanna Gains and this is completely her style. It just is not mine. My kids reminded me I need to clean and store some household items so I will use it for that and keep it under a sink in a guest bathroom.
Oh yes - I love farmhouse things, but some think Chip and Joanna Gaines are the end all be all of all things decor.
Seriously though, that is a great idea and a perfect use for it.

I am a mid century modern fan. I have a lot of original high end mcm pieces so farmhouse just does not go with what I prefer. Thanks for understanding and helping me brainstorm!

No, but seriously sounds like a great idea with what you are going to do with it.
Also, I get what you are saying about close family. I love my sister to death but she is a terrible gift giver sometimes. When she comes up with an idea on her own, it's crazy. Her heart is in the right place, she just isn't good at it. I think she gets so excited with her own ideas and forgets what the other person wants or is like. I just deal with it because I love her.
