i have a wedding in NJ the night of halloween. i don't even know if i'll be allowed to go since i'm due with Chat Icon less than 3 weeks later.

i definitely want to bring DS trick or treating during the day but am trying to figure out when you do it since it's on a saturday to see if i could bring him and then drive to jersey. (assuming i'm allowed to go). it is important to me that he goes when the neighborhood is trick or treating because i want him to see his friends in the neighborhood.

do you still go at like 3pm which is pretty much when school gets out? or do you go earlier since it's a saturday?

I remember a few years ago when I lived in a community and Halloween was on a Sunday, Trick or Treating started at 4:30. I am assuming it will probably be around that time this year.

DD is 2 and we'll probably only bring her to the 4 or 5 neighbors that know her. I was thinking late morning and then come back for lunch, let her take her nap and then let her come to the door in her costume when other kids come later in the afternoon.

I figured I'd watch to see when people are home and bring her then.

Last time Halloween was on a weekend my mom had trick or treaters at her door by 11am.

My son has soccer practice on saturdays...so I think maybe 2pm.
Feed the kids a nice lunch...and go out for an hour or so.

Hi! I may be in the minority here, but just my 2 cents!!

My DS will be 2 by the time Halloween rolls around this year, and I will not be bringing him out until 4 - 5 pm.

Honestly, not to flame or come off as rude, but I would be annoyed if people started coming to the door in the morning or at lunch time.

I know that little kids need to go out earlier than the big kids - they should NOT have to trick or treat in the dark and be out when the bigger kids are around, but I also feel that just because it's on a Saturday doesnt mean that you (not YOU, but people on general) shouldnt still be respectful of others time.

If you are talking 1 or two neighbors or friends that you are close with and they are expecting you early, that's one thing. Otherwise, I feel that it would be an inconvenience having trick or treaters at 11, 12, 1, etc.

see this is what i'm worried about! in order for us to make it to this wedding, we'd have to leave no later than 3pm. that means i'd have to do TOT at like 1pm so we could get home and ready to go.

i'm worried no one will be out and i don't want him to be the only one, but if i wait longer i will miss the cocktail hour.

halloween is more important to me than the wedding, even though i love the bride to death. assuming i can even go to the wedding, i don't know what to do Chat Icon

i hate that it's on a saturday!

Personally, I will be t aking my kids out around 4:30-5:00. BUT, I would not find it rude if someone came to my door at noon if Halloween falls on a weekend. My big thing would be that maybe alot of people won't be home at that time.

I think one or two is fine. I also think that at that age they are not going far or long so I would not worry too much.

It stinks that it's on saturday this year!

How old is your DC? last year DS had just turned 1 (bday is early October) and he had no idea what was really going on. We took him to a few neighbors, but he had more fun going to the mall for trick or treating - they do that all day as well, and there are tons of kids there! That might be an option that allows you to do both trick or treating and make the wedding.

I agree with another poster that there may not be tons of people home during the middle of the day...maybe you could talk to your neighbors and see what their plans are?

I don't think most people are prepared for trick or treaters until late afternoon. I'll have candy and all of that so if we are home and we get early kids, great but we plan to set up shop around 4 or 5.

I must really live in a different world!

if there were kids coming to doors here trick or treating in the afternoon ppl would be in shock!
most trick or treating here even for the little ones starts around 6 and goes until prob 8-9.

DD will be 18 months and I was thinking of taking her after her nap which would be around 2 or 3pm.

I plan on bringing her to my mom's and MIL's in the late morning so they can see her.
