What part of your "child free" life would you hate to give up the most?

For me- it would definitely be sleeping late on the weekends!
I am SO not a morning person and I LOATHE waking up for work every morning. The only thing that gets me through is knowing I can sleep late on Sat and Sunday.
Those are my days to catch up on rest and I would TOTALLY miss that if I had a child.

Also- a close second- is the after work impromtu get togethers with co-workers- for dinner or drinks or both. I would TOTALLY miss those!

i think just the freedom to go out whenever we feel like it.

DH and i love to just call up friends and say 'lets gtg for a some drinks" just as much on a tues nite as we do on a saturday. i like knowing that if we wanted to get in the car and take a weekend trip--we can--without worrying about baby sitters or anything.

Being able to go away at a moments notice. Sleeping late on weekends. Drinks and a later dinner out with friends on a Thursday night. Shopping for frivolous expensive things. All the wonderful alone time I get with DH.

Being able to go wherever we want at any time.

Being able to sleep as long as I want and nap in the afternoon if I feel like it.

Being able to spend my money on fun stuff for me and DH.

And of course, being able to walk around the house in my undies & bra Chat Icon Couldn't do that if we had kids!

We like to do nothing a lot and I would miss the quiet relaxing, having nothing to do time.

Even though we are TTC, these are the things that always put the doubt in your head.

Here are mine

1. Sleeping late-I am an avid sleeper, and a lot has to do with my illnesses. I am not a morning person.

2. Hanging out with friends whenever I want to

3. My shopping-I love to shop for myself

I like to devote all my energy to my relationship with my DH. I would hate to have to focus my energy on a child instead of on my husband. It may sound odd, but that's how I feel.

DH and I feel we have almost zero free time now, and I never get to sleep in because the animals get me up at FOUR am, so there wouldn't be much of a change there Chat Icon

Re: What part of your "child free" life would you hate to give up the most?

Sleep and freedom.

Don't get me wrong I look forward to children and quite a few of my friends have children.

But I work nights and do most of the house keeping. So now I'm nervous about adding on rasing children. DH knows how I feel about this.

I'll have to schedule work around when my parents will be able to babysit, work mostly weekends, stay up if I'm not working consecutive nights to be with the children and still maintain a fairly clean house.

I already stay up for 24 horus stretches I can't imagine after kids!

Re: What part of your "child free" life would you hate to give up the most?

That feeling I get on Thursday or Friday every week when the weekend is near and I know the only things we "have" to do are laundry, food shopping, and cleaning.

Being able to think up ways to spend my time, which lately has been taking our dog for long hikes through the woods. But could be gardening, shopping, going out to dinner and a movie or just sitting on my butt in front of the computer and surfing.

Re: What part of your "child free" life would you hate to give up the most?

I would definitely miss getting a good night's sleep.

DH can sleep through anything and can sleep really late. My mom said I was a good baby and although I might have woken up early, I wasn't crying for her, I just laid it my crib. I guess even then I was being considerate for others sleepingChat Icon I pray our children will be good and sleep late too!

I will also miss being able to run in and out of stores quickly. I see these parents with their children and it's such a production getting everyone out of the car and then back in.

Re: What part of your "child free" life would you hate to give up the most?

just basic freedom. I am still adjusting to the whole married thing so this is why I am not rushing into procreating. That and having to care for something else, my husband is like a child and it is so much work, i have pets which are so much work, i have a apartment which is so much work, a job that isn't too much work but takes my time away from all the things above - so one added person to care for is just not what i need.

Oh and did I mention having to see my parents at least 3-4 times a week because they go insane when I don't see them.

Chat Icon I can't even commit to a dog. I have a cat since they are much lower maintainence and can even be alone for a weekend with an auto feeder! That shows you how much I value my freedom! Chat Icon
