What is your one bridal registry regret?

What is the one thing you registered and received from your bridal registry that you now regret?

I'll start -
For me it was Waterford stemware. I inherited my Grandma's china, so I went all out with my stemware. 12 water glasses, 12 white wine glasses, 12 red wine goblets, champagne flutes, martini glasses....

I stare at the cabinet containing all of that stemware that has not been used once and just think of all the $$$$ that could have been used for more useful things. Chat Icon

Re: What is your one bridal registry regret?

i was rather savvy with the registry everything we use or have used that we registered for (we went with better quality daily dishes and no china!) The only thing is I wished I didn't bother going with the "recommended" coffee/expresso maker and toaster over because both died a year and half after having it. It seems the mid to lower range items actually outlast the more expensive items.

I really love everything I got, but the only thing I don't love is this folding drying dish rack. I thought it was a great idea, because I refuse to leave it out on the counter. but its freakin HUGE. and takes up an entire cabinet. its a total pain to get out of the cabinet, that we rarely use itChat Icon

only other thing that wasn't the best idea, but could really happen to anything I registered for. It was my steamware. It was discontinued right after my bridal shower. I only got 4 of each and when I went to buy more, it was out. I kept trying back to only find out months later it was discontinued.Chat Icon

Did you try replacements.com?

For me, nothing really was a regret but I kind of wish I never registered maybe for china. I love the pattern but I received 4 sets and I will probably never use them. I am more of a decorative plate gal... hahah.

My dirt devil spot scrubber....I thought I would have carpets....well the apartment was all hardwood floors and my house is now all hardwood floors through out. I occasionally use it on an area rug but it is more for carpet

But we are putting carpet in the basement so maybe I will use it more down there.

Re: What is your one bridal registry regret?

our china & stemware. not that I don't love it, but we have not used it once in three years. Most of it is in our one glass upper cabinet in the kitchen, but the rest of the stemware and silverware and platters are in the cabinet over the frig. Such a waste of great storage space over the frig, but then again, I don't know what else I would put in there and not forget about it. Otherwise we use everything else.

Sushi making kit and creme brulee maker. I mean really...what the heck was I thinking.

I feel bad for all you ladies who regret your crystal and china. Why don't you use the stuff? it's so beautiful and there is no rule that says it has to be a holiday or a "special occasion" to use it. A hamburger off the grill and a beer in a crystal wine glass won't get you in trouble. it's your beautiful stuff. USE IT!

A margarita set and pasta bowl set.

I do use the big bowl from the pasta set but never the little bowls... and neither DH nor I drink margaritas. We don't even own a blender. I don't know what I was thinking. My registry was only 1 page at BBB and 1 page at Macy's b/c I HATED registering - I had to really think of ish to put on there.

Oh and the bathroom collections, and bedding and stuff I registered for - a waste - I returned everything. I wish I never registered. I hated returning things - I felt like such a greedy tool. I like giving and receiving thoughtful gifts, not stuff that I put on or get off a list. Chat Icon

Re: What is your one bridal registry regret?

Our stemware - we use the glasses for beverages, but not the wine glasses/flutes, which are still in boxes in the the storage cabinet. I use my everyday wine glasses when we serve guests.

Figured if I ever get to have kids, I can pass it onto them.

Re: What is your one bridal registry regret?

while i LOVE my dyson i wish i would have registered for the ball...when we registered the ball had just come out and it was a little more expensive than the version we have - we have the old one which they discontinued...so while i LOVE it, i wish i would have just registered for the ball...

otherwise i've been really happy with the stuff we registered for. we had been living together for awhile by then so we had a lot of things already and we knew what we needed/really wanted...

I went with a nice glassware set, not cyrstal, and a glazed pottery instead of china, so we get lots of use out of both.

It's not a major regret, but did ask for a clothes steamer and a bar mixing set and I never use either.

LOL- I always laught at my firends who register for those things.

I didn't really need the chopped salad scissors, but they broke right away & I tossed them--no regrets.

As for China, I don't use mine, but I don't regret registering for it. I kind of regret not using it.

I was waiting untill I moved ( 2 years after wedding)nowI have been waiting untill I get a china cabinet, which has to wait untill the floors are done. . . which is after the bathroom. . .I have been married almost 6 years. I wish I had a place to put it so I could use it.(it is at my mom's house)

100% my stemware. I did not register for China because I just knew I would not use it, but figured glasses I would use. Meanwhile each one of mine were almost $30 a piece and I have 12 wine glasses, water & champagne sitting there collecting dust.

ITA! I love using my "fancy" stuff!

I don't think I have any regrets for what I did register for but I do have some for what I didn't register for...like a keurig and a dyson. Oh I know! I regret my mandolin slicer. I can't even figure out how to use the stupid thing. and the 5 cake plates I have. I don't even bake.

Re: What is your one bridal registry regret?

I wish I registered for a better toaster oven. We use ours all of the time and it has all of the functions I want, but it is not the greatest. I wanted to give guests different priced items so I registered for a less expensive one, I should have just registered for the nicer one. Also, I wish I registered for better knives. I like my set, but frankly, again I should have registered for a better set or just purchased both of those things myself. I did not love any bedding so we did not register for any. It took me a while to find something I loved.

this is why i registered for casual china - so we can use everyday - i have yet to meet a person who has used there china more than once

Re: What is your one bridal registry regret?

I don't have anything I regret registering for. We've used everything, even our fancy wine glasses.

I did register for too many towels though. I have a closet full of towels and it's just me and DH! Chat Icon

Re: What is your one bridal registry regret?

The cappuccino maker. I used it a few times. I do regret NOT registering for a nice china set. I got a nice everyday set, but I really want a nice china set and I know I would use it at least once a month, if not more. Chat Icon .

Now, DH will never spring for buying a set. He hates my wine glass sets enough as it is. Chat Icon
