What is WRONG with people!!!!
So Maddie and I went to Stop & Shop to get coldcuts. I'm waiting while the Deli guy finishes up my order. A lady walks next to her with a shopping basket and it swung and almost hit her in the face. Maddie put her arm out so it didn't hit her.
The women looks at her and says and I quote, "YOU ARE A NASTY CHILD THAT NEEDS TO LEARN MANNORS AND SANTA ISN'T GOING TO BRING YOU ANY PRESENTS THIS YEAR."
I immeditately said, "Excuse Me?"
She said she is a rude child and needs to learn mannors. I told her that the basket almost hit her in the face and you tell an almost 2 year old that she isn't getting presents?
When she told Maddies this she immediately looked at me with her bottom lip hanging out and starting to cry, "Santa isn't getting me presents this year?" My heart acked!!
I freaked out on her and said, "How dare you tell my child this? She is not even two and if you didn't put the basket in her face and said excuse me, she wouldn't have pushed it away"
All the women kept saying was,"Well she needs mannors."
I'm LIVID right now.
SO I walk away to the friut section. She is telling so lady what happened, of course that Maddie is a nasty little girl.
She looked at me and I said YEAH, I'm talking about you because you are a nasty, nasty women.
Ugh, I"m still freaking out!!!!

OMG I would have lost it! Or not - I probably would have been speechless! People are so clueless. I know my DD would have had the same exact reaction as you and I probably would have told her off loudly in front of everyone!

OMG!! What a RUDE and NASTY old biotch.. Whether Maddie was right or wrong she had no place to say something so cruel to a child, especially a child she did not know. I am fuming for you, it would have taken a lot for me to keep my cool in that situation. However, someone like that is not worth the energy. She must have a miserable lonely life.

Believe me, I wanted to jump on this lady, but I was concerned about Maddie. I didn't want her to get more upset then she already was.
I just told my DH and he said he would have been cursing and freaking out, but I didn't want Maddie to hear that coming out of me, so I help back a lot.

OMG Sue.....I'm so angry reading this...my face is actually hot! Screaming (like I would have been so inclined to do) would not have helped and would have upset Maddie so you did the right thing!!

Ugh! That is absolutely horrible. I would tell your DD that Santa and Mommy are proud of how she protected herself and that she was very polite. Tell her Santa said that lady was mean and rude will be getting coal this year.
I am so angry after reading that I wish I could have been there to back you up.
