The world has watched breathlessly as Michelle Obama establishes herself as the most stylish First Lady since Jackie O. But yesterday, "Shelly O" may have committed her first fashion faux pax while in office. She stepped out in a pair of questionable turquoise suede boots to talk community service with students from YouthBuild. Yes, she was braving a cold, muddy March day, and yes, perhaps the emerald-ish shade was to honor St. Patricks day, but regardless, the boots do seem to stand out like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.
Uhm she was doing community service and they are probably warm and comfy. I don't get it must people really pick people apart that badly?

UM "Shelly O"...who do they think this is??? She's the 1st lady and should always be addressed as such. I think that is totally inappropriate and disrespectful.

I think it's supposed to be a take off of "Jackie O". Alot of comparrisons are made between she and the former first lady.

Some people have nothing better to do with their lives. And it annoys me that women are constantly being compared one to another.  Jackie O was a beautiful woman. Beautiful. In her Jackie O way. Michelle Obama is a beautiful woman. Beautiful. In her "Shelly O" kind of way. Period! Let it rest already.

Ah OK, Jackie O. I guess that makes sense. But she wasn't Jackie O when she was the 1st lady. I dunno, I just don't like it...
As for the boots...I don't see the big deal. She was doing community service. I guess she should have been in heals

I'd have to agree...I don't think the look is flattering at all, and personally I think the boots are terribly ugly...
But you know what, she was not concerned with looking perfect or fashion forward...she was focused on the task at hand...focused on listening to the people around her...
Just like the rest of us, she doesn't look fabulous every moment of the day! Kudos to her for that.

I don't like knicknames for the the president & first lady at all. I think it is disrespectful--I felt the same way about "W" even thoguth I guess it was used to distinguish him from his father.
She doesn't go by Shelly (at least publicly) so the knickname is even more obnoxoius.
And she probably thought the boots were ugly too--and that's why she wore them to get dirty!
Whatever--I love turquoise!

I mean I wouldn't wear the boots but I just think it's nuts to criticize someone's attire when they are doign community service. I mean obv you are getting dressed to do dirty work. I don't get it.

I don't know..call me crazy but I think it's because she is a prominent figure in the public eye. I think people get offended by it and I wonder if they feel the same way when they look at the other posts on this board.
I mean, if we can't talk about her, is it okay for us to talk about Pamela Anderson, Lindsay Lohan, etc. etc. and what they're wearing?
That being said, I don't think what she wore is a big deal. As someone mentioned before, she was doing community service. It's not like she wore combat boots to meet the Queen of England or something. But I also don't think it's a conspiracy when people comment on her clothes. That's the media for you.

Who freakin cares, she was there to do community service
The day Lindsay Lohan becomes a Harvard educated lawyer and first lady and then does community service, people would be less judgmental...the fact that LL is a trashy celebrity makes it easier to pick apart her style...
