wedding hair help - please help!!!

I posted on LIW already, but I need all the input I can get.

HONESTY, PLEASE!

My dress is pretty formal, and I have a 2-tiered fingertip length veil with some puffiness on the top.

I NEVER EVER EVER wear my hair up. When I was younger, my Dad told me that my face/head looked really big with my hair up, so I haven't worn it up since.

I either wear my hair all down, or like this:

Honestly, I feel like my dress calls for an updo. I plan on keeping my veil on all night.

a hair trial I had - I don't think this style is going to work. There is just too much hair around my face/shoulders to work with my dress. (THIS IS NOT MY VEIL - it was the hairdressers, for trial purposes only.)

Another style that I like, but I'm not sure of...

I'm really open to some honest opinions - you girls understand that every bride wants to be beautiful and comfortable, but elegant at the same time. If you have any pics of suggestions, PLEASE send them this way!!!

Re: wedding hair help - please help!!!

I'm a huge fan of a chignon - the picture you posted is gorgeous. You seem to have enough hair to work it - and it's low enough that it's not an "updo". I would play around with it b/c in the end, you have to be comfortable. If you hate your hair, it's going to show.

I also agree that the hair trial had too much going on around the shoulders. I think, though, that if your hair was straight -perhaps with a natural wave, not curl- it could work.

Chat Icon Thank you!

I'm also considering a half up like Melissa's beautiful 'do at TWOTY - a straighter style with curled ends...

Re: wedding hair help - please help!!!

I've always heard, if you do not like your hair up.. DO NOT WEAR IT UP ON YOUR WEDDING DAY! You don't want to look back at pictures and regret it...

What about something like one of these?

Re: wedding hair help - please help!!!

I have to agree that your dress (which is BEAUTIFUL BTW) calls for an updo!

I went for THREE trials, bought THREE tiaras and ended up w/ this...

One of my trials I went for a looser up-do look, but I was terrified that it would fall out after a lot of dancing (which I was definitely planning on doing).

My best friend (who NEVER wears her hair up) had her hair like this... which I loved and I think would look amazing on you!!!

Re: wedding hair help - please help!!!

Thank you - I LOVE your friend's hair, and you were a beautiful bride!

I just emailed my hair girl...I have a wedding to go to on 7/13, so I asked if she can do this trial on that day - MINUS THE PIN/BROOCH.

I'm wearing a tiara, so i feel like the brooch is too much.

I think that would look great - won't distract too much from the detail of the dress.

what about a low bun with curls? kind of like how I wore my hair on my wedding day. It's soft (tendrils around face), but still showcases the back of your face and it isn't a severe updo.

Shorty - I agree that your dress calls for an updo but Shopaholic makes a VERY good point. If you don't like the way you look with your hair up, don't do it!!'

So, you HAVE to do at LEAST one trial with your hair up. I really like the low chignon. The 2nd pic. Make sure you do a side part like you did for your trial so you'll feel comfortable with front.

Shorty, I am going to cry, b/c that was my hairstyle. Chat Icon

yes, your dress calls for an updo.

and with the bangs swept to the side, your face will be very flattered.

remember this...you love this pic

the fact that the bun is long too also provides length...and my face is wider/fuller than yours!

you will look beautiful!!!!

eta: don't hate on the gloves. my dressmaker insisted. Chat Icon

also, since I too was wearing a tiara, I opted for 4 decorative hairpins at the center, to give some decoration but to not be too much

Do what you will feel most comfortable in. I did a low updo, and loved it, it was off of me and neat the whole night.

Re: wedding hair help - please help!!!

I NEVER wear my hair up and I wore it up for the wedding and it was great. I didn't have to worry about it at all for the whole night - it didn't move. If I wore it down, or half down I was worried about how it would look through the entire day and I didn't want to have to deal with it. I went on 5 hair trials...I was a little picky! Chat Icon

I hated my wedding hair (too curly).

I think a low updo or a half up/half down would look good. I think everyone looks better with some hair to frame their face more.

eta. I like Shopaholic's choices.

Re: wedding hair help - please help!!!

Your dress is beautiful!! I love the second possible hair style that you posted. Very elegant. Or you can try something where the hair is pull back in the front and sides but down and flowing in the back. Sort of like these:

Re: wedding hair help - please help!!!

i like it pulled back and showing from the front

like mrsnypd posted

when its showing from the front it doesnt feel like an up do

im not a fan of tight curls. a soft look is suited for this dress

eta try a style with your hair pulled back and adding a little height,it will give the style a different look
